Teesta Water Sharing Agreement

The Teesta Water Sharing Agreement is a long pending agreement on the sharing of the Teesta river water between India and Bangladesh. The river originates in Sikkim and flow through West Bengal before entering Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, it merges with the Brahmaputra River. The Teesta water is crucial for Bangladesh, especially between December and March when the country requires 50% of the river water. The Indian PM recently reiterated the commitment to concluding this treaty.
