A joint report was published by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).
As per the report, the total number of people living in internal displacement (IDPs) around the world is at record 55 million. Conflicts and natural disasters forced people to flee within their own country every second of last year.

India has reported cases of White Fungus infections, which is caused due to low immunity or if people come in contact with bodies containing these fungi.
Affected patients are diagnosed Covid negative, but the fungal infection can be detected only by a CT scan. The fungus affects lungs, nails, skin, stomach, kidney etc.

The Global Health Summit was co-hosted by the European Commission and Italy as part of its G20 presidency.
The Rome Declaration was released at the end of the Summit, which reaffirmed leaders’ support for the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator. The World Leaders highlighted the necessity to share the financial burden and close the funding gap in vaccination.

The Rosalind Franklin rover, which is being built by the European Space Agency (ESA) to be launched to Mars has demonstrated successful operations during its trails.
The rover is a part of ESA’s ExoMars mission which is scheduled to be launched in 2023. Earlier, the mission was planned to be launched in 2020, but has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.

The G7 is an intergovernmental group of 7 countries namely the U.S., Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Recently at the G7 Environment ministers virtual meeting, the member countries have agreed and pledged to accelerate efforts for slowing global warming. This includes an end to government support for new coal-fired power plants by the members.

The Commonwealth of Nations is a political association of 54 member states most of which were erstwhile colonies of British.
Recently, the Health Ministers of the Commonwealth nations have called for equal access to Covid-19 vaccines to everyone around the globe and have urged for immediate action for fair & transparent pricing. This was emphasized in a joint statement by the member countries.

Vesak, the Day of the Full Moon in the month of May, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists across the world.
It was on the Day of Vesak in the year 623 B.C., that the Buddha was born. It was also on the same day, the Buddha attained enlightenment, on another Day of Vesak in his eightieth year, he passed away. Vesak Global Celebrations on Buddha Poornima was observed through video conference.

The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has formulated a policy paper on “Circular Economy in Electronics and Electrical Sector”, which aims to deal with e-waste management.
The paper focuses on 11 recyclable products, which pose considerable challenges in electrical and electronics manufacturing. A circular economy is a system which is aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources.

Archaeologists have recently discovered six sacrificial pits in Sanxingdui. The pits are said to contain about 500 artifacts, including gold and bronze masks.
Sanxingdui is an ancient Chinese city, located about 1,500 kilometers southwest of Beijing. The artifacts date back around 3,000 years, to a time when this part of China was ruled by the ancient kingdom of Shu.

The Central Institute of Brackish-water Aquaculture – Chennai is one of the establishments under the ICAR and is the nodal agency for serving the needs of brackish-water aquaculture research in the country.
Recently, this research institution has successfully developed brood-stock and seed production technology of Mangrove Red Snapper, which is a commercially valuable fish species.
