The researchers at the Bengaluru-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have developed a new Covid-19 antibody test machine.
The semi-quantitative electrochemical ELISA test for Covid-19, can determine levels of Covid-induced IgM and IgG antibodies. A start-up incubated at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has made this significant development.

Notes:
India has reported cases of White Fungus infections, which is caused due to low immunity or if people come in contact with bodies containing these fungi.
Affected patients are diagnosed Covid negative, but the fungal infection can be detected only by a CT scan. The fungus affects lungs, nails, skin, stomach, kidney etc.

Every year, the World Bee Day is celebrated across the world on 20th May, by the United Nations. This day aims to raise awareness among the people on the role played by the pollinator.
This year’s theme for the World Bee Day is “Bee engaged – Build Back Better for Bees”.

Tata Communications has announced the launch of ‘School of Hope and Empowerment’ (S.H.E.). This is a multi-media and multi-stakeholder initiative which is launched in collaboration with The Better India, which is a digital media platform.
This initiative aims to support and educate women from small towns in India and help them to become better entrepreneurs

The G7 is an intergovernmental group of 7 countries namely the U.S., Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Recently at the G7 Environment ministers virtual meeting, the member countries have agreed and pledged to accelerate efforts for slowing global warming. This includes an end to government support for new coal-fired power plants by the members.

WHO, along with FAO, UNEP and the World Organization for Animal Health formed a panel of experts to develop a global plan, to prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans.
Named the One Health High-Level Expert Panel, it was an initiative launched by France and Germany. It will advise the UN bodies to develop risk assessment and establish good practices to prevent zoonotic outbreaks.

The Union Minister of State (IC) for Ayush – Kiren Rijiju has recently launched a portal named “Ayush Clinical Case Repository portal”. This portal aims to support Ayush medical professionals and the public. It would provide information about the clinical outcomes achieved by Ayush medicine.
In addition to this portal, the Minister has also launched the third version of Ayush Sanjivani mobile App.

Hong Kong mountaineer Tsang Yin-hung has recorded the world’s fastest ascent of Everest by a woman.
The 44-year-old mountaineer scaled the summit in a record time of 25 hours and 50 minutes. Another mountaineer, the 75-year-old Arthur Muir, became the oldest American to climb the world’s highest peak at 8,848.86-metres.

World Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed on May 28 across the world. The theme for this year is: “Action and Investment in Menstrual Hygiene and Health.”
The day aims to change the social stigma associated with menstruation. The date May 28 was chosen to represent the menstrual cycle of 28 days and the menstruation period of 5 days. The day was initiated by the German non-profit WASH United in 2013.

The Central Government is set to provide grants to some public sector companies under the Mission COVID Suraksha, to increase the vaccine production.
Hyderabad based Indian Immunological limited, IIL, is a facility under the National Dairy Development Board. As per the Science and Technology Ministry, IIL and Bharat Biotech has collaborated to supply the drug substance for manufacturing Covaxin Vaccine.
