Notes:
India’s only aircraft carrier is INS Vikramaditya, a modified Kiev-class 44,500-tonne aircraft carrier and the flagship of the Indian Navy.
The aircraft recently reported a minor fire at its home port, Karwar in Karnataka. India bought the aircraft carrier from Russia and it joined the naval fleet seven years ago. The Indian Navy operates MiG-29K maritime fighters from the deck of this aircraft carrier.

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Jose J Kattoor as its Executive Director (ED) with effect from 4 May 2021.
Before being promoted as ED, he was serving as the Regional Director for Karnataka. As Executive Director, Jose J Kattoor will look after Human Resource Management Department, Corporate Strategy and Budget Department.

Conservationist, Broadcaster and historian Sir David Attenborough has been named as the People’s Advocate for the COP 26 of UN climate change summit to be held under the U.K. Presidency, in partnership with Italy. The summit is to be held this year in Glasgow.
He has been assigned the task to highlight the actions decision makers will need to take ahead of and at COP26 and to integrate all the climate related agendas of the participating nations.

Notes:
Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on COVID-19 of India, has recommended phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of Covaxin, for administration to those aged from 2 to 18. The vaccine is developed by Bharat Biotech.
The trial would take place in various sites, including AIIMS, Delhi, AIIMS, Patna and Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur on 525 subjects.

The United Kingdom government recently unveiled its Action Plan for Animal Welfare, which will formally recognise the feelings of many animals.
Under the plan, Microchipping pet cats will become compulsory. This measure was aimed at pets and livestock, rather than wild animals. The Action Plan also includes measures to ban the export of live animals for slaughter, keeping of primates as pets.

The market regulator – Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has framed a new regulation that top 1,000 listed firms will have to formulate a dividend distribution policy.
This has been issued as a part of strengthening corporate governance practices and disclosure requirements among companies. SEBI has also given a detailed regulation about the constitution of Risk Management Committee (RMC) in listed companies.

The state Government of Chhattisgarh has launched the scheme named “Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Yojna”. Under this scheme, the state would bear the education expenses of the children who have lost parents to COVID-19.
A stipend of Rs.500 per month will be paid to such children who are studying in Classes 1 to 8 and Rs.1000 per month for Classes 9 to 12. This scheme is applicable for children studying in both Government and Private schools.

According to the latest 50 Greatest Leaders list released by Fortune Group, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern topped the global leaders.
Other leaders in the top 10 list are mRNA pioneers; Paypal CEO Daniel H Schulman; NBA Rescuers; Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s John Nkengasong; Ping An’s Jessica Tan among others. The only Indian among the top 10 names is Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has chartered the Air India (AI) to import ‘Zeolite’ from different countries.
Zeolite is a key component in mass-production of Oxygen. Zeolite-based oxygen concentrator systems are used to produce medical-grade oxygen, as it filters impurities to create purified oxygen.

Mongolian Kanjur, the Buddhist text in 108 volumes is considered to be the most important religious text in Mongolia.
A meeting of the Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (IC) Prahlad Singh Patel with the Mongolian Minister of Culture was held in virtual mode. Ministry of Culture is to complete reprinting of 100 sets of sacred Mongolian Kanjur by next year to distribute in the main Buddhist centers in Mongolia.
