The Chinese spacecraft named Tianwen-1 has successfully landed on the Mars planet. This makes China the second country after the USA to land its rover on the red planet.
The landing has been confirmed by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and has stated that the spacecraft has landed on Utopia Planitia which is a large plain in the northern hemisphere of Mars.

SWAMIH Fund is an Alternative Investment Fund, which has been formed by the Government of India, to provide Debt financing to complete the stalled housing projects in India. SBICap Ventures Ltd has been appointed as the fund manager.
Recently, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman handed over the possession to 640 homebuyers of the first stalled project completed with funding by SWAMIH Fund. The project is located in Mumbai.

Mucormycosis or “Black fungus” is an infection, which mainly affects people on medication. It reduces their ability to fight environmental pathogens.
This has been categorised as a notified disease in Haryana and the state has started to track the outbreak of this infection.

Australia has been recently affected by mice plague wherein huge numbers of mice have invaded its grain silos and storage facilities. The government is looking for outlawed high-grade poison to fight millions of mice from spoiling the crops.
This is said to be the worst rodent invasion in decades. The infestation has spread quickly across New South Wales and Queensland states.

Famous mathematician Professor MS Narasimhan has recently passed away at the age of 88. He was known for the Narasimhan-Seshadri theorem, propounded along with another mathematician C. S. Seshadri and both were elected as Fellows of the Royal Society, London.
He was the only Indian to receive the King Faisal International Prize in the field of science.

Elon Musk-owned SpaceX has announced a new partnership with Google to strengthen the use of its satellite Internet connectivity.
Under the partnership, Google Cloud would deliver data, cloud services, and applications to its enterprise customers, by using Starlink’s high-speed broadband Internet. SpaceX will locate Starlink ground stations and will enable secure delivery of data through Google cloud.

Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito, when infected with a dengue virus. Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever mosquito, can spread dengue fever, chikungunya, Zika fever, Mayaro and yellow fever viruses.
National Dengue Day is observed in India on May 16 with the recommendation of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

International Museum Day is celebrated every year on May 18 since 1977, to raise awareness about museums and let people know the role played by museums in preserving the culture and heritage of countries
The theme of International Museum Day this year is – The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine.

The US President Joe Biden has stated that the USA would share 80 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the needy countries in the following weeks. This announcement has come in the backdrop of lower demand for vaccines in the USA and increased demand globally.
The 80 million doses will include 20 million doses manufactured by Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.

Basketball Legend Kobe Bryant was inducted posthumously into the Basketball Hall of Fame in a ceremony that was delayed around nine months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
There was an exhibit, called Kobe: Basketball Life, a video tribute, iconic pictures, vintage jerseys, shoes and basketballs, the playing of Bryant’s Oscar award-winning film, Dear Basketball. In 2020, Bryant, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others, died in a helicopter crash in California.
