Indian Telecom operator Reliance Jio is constructing the largest international submarine cable system centred on India with global partners and submarine cable supplier Subcom.
The company plans to deploy two submarine cable systems. While the first system will connect India with Asia Pacific markets through Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia, the other one connects with Italy, middle and north Africa region.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been providing Tele Counselling to children through the SAMVEDNA service, through a network of qualified medical professionals / Doctors.
SAMVEDNA stands for “Sensitizing Action on Mental Health Vulnerability through Emotional Development and Necessary Acceptance”. It is a tele counselling service for psychological support to children to address their stress and fear regarding COVID.

The Union Finance Ministry, on the recommendation of the Panchayati Raj Ministry, released Rs 8,923.8 crore to 25 states for providing grant to rural local bodies.
The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance released the first installment of the Basic (Untied) Grants. It may be utilized among other things for various prevention and mitigation measures needed to combat the Covid pandemic

Prasar Bharati, India’s largest public broadcasting agency, is a statutory autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament. Prasar Bharati Act was passed in 1990 and enacted in 1997.
It comprises the Doordarshan Television Network and All India Radio. Recently Prasar Bharati floated a tender for a consultant to launch a channel with an international presence. A detailed project report to set up DD International, was invited.

The Archaeological Survey of India have submitted six Indian sites to the tentative list of UNESCO’s world heritage sites, as per the recent announcement of Culture Ministry.
The six sites are namely Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, Iconic riverfront of the historic city of Varanasi, Megalithic site of Hire Benkal in Karnataka, Maratha Military Architecture in Maharashtra, Bhedaghat-Lametaghat in Narmada Valley- Jabalpur, and temples of Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu).

The principal rainy season for the Indian subcontinent, June to September, is referred to as the ‘Southwest Monsoon’ period.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that the Southwest Monsoon has arrived over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which is an indication that it will reach the mainland soon.

Every year, the World Bee Day is celebrated across the world on 20th May, by the United Nations. This day aims to raise awareness among the people on the role played by the pollinator.
This year’s theme for the World Bee Day is “Bee engaged – Build Back Better for Bees”.

In extreme cases of Covid19, doctors choose to apply ECMO or Extracorporeal membrane oxygen for critically ill patients.
When oxygen support fails and when patients are not able to respond to interventions like mechanical ventilation, doctors may choose to apply ECMO, which acts as an artificial heart and pair of artificial lungs outside the body.

India and Israel have signed a 3-year work program agreement for development in Agriculture cooperation.
India and Israel are already implementing the ‘INDO-ISRAEL Agricultural Project Centres of Excellence’ and ‘INDO-ISRAEL Villages of Excellence’.

WHO, along with FAO, UNEP and the World Organization for Animal Health formed a panel of experts to develop a global plan, to prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans.
Named the One Health High-Level Expert Panel, it was an initiative launched by France and Germany. It will advise the UN bodies to develop risk assessment and establish good practices to prevent zoonotic outbreaks.
