Simorgh, named after a mythical Persian bird is Iran’s strongest supercomputer launched till date. It was developed domestically by Tehran’s Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT),
The supercomputer has a performance capacity of 0.56 petaflops at present and will reach one petaflops in two months.

Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito, when infected with a dengue virus. Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever mosquito, can spread dengue fever, chikungunya, Zika fever, Mayaro and yellow fever viruses.
National Dengue Day is observed in India on May 16 with the recommendation of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

A team at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia have come up with a snapshot of the global bird population.
As per the study, there are at least 50 billion individual wild birds in the world, among them House sparrows alone make up about 1.6 billion. European starlings, barn swallows and ring-billed gulls also have population above 1 billion.

Tripura recently launched Vande Tripura, a 24×7 dedicated educational channel to offer lessons on the school syllabus.
The channel initially has started with recorded lessons. It would shift to live classes, discussions on different academic topics, various information relating to the education department from June 1.

Bihar government launched ‘HIT Covid App’ to ensure regular monitoring of home-isolated Covid-19 patients across the state.
HIT stands for Home isolation tracking. Health workers would visit the patients at home and feed data in the app after measuring their temperature and oxygen level, which will be monitored at the district level.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been providing Tele Counselling to children through the SAMVEDNA service, through a network of qualified medical professionals / Doctors.
SAMVEDNA stands for “Sensitizing Action on Mental Health Vulnerability through Emotional Development and Necessary Acceptance”. It is a tele counselling service for psychological support to children to address their stress and fear regarding COVID.

Karnataka has been ranked first in establishing Health and Wellness Centres under Ayushman Bharat Program in 2020-21.
While the Centre had set a target of establishing 2,263 centres, the State has upgraded 3,300 centres till March 31, to provide comprehensive primary health care in rural areas.

Prasar Bharati, India’s largest public broadcasting agency, is a statutory autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament. Prasar Bharati Act was passed in 1990 and enacted in 1997.
It comprises the Doordarshan Television Network and All India Radio. Recently Prasar Bharati floated a tender for a consultant to launch a channel with an international presence. A detailed project report to set up DD International, was invited.

The Zhurong rover was carried to Mars on the uncrewed spacecraft of China Tianwen-1. It is the first successful probe landing by any country on its first mission to the planet.
Recently, the Zhurong rover has sent back its first photographs of the Red Planet. Solar panels against an alien landscape, ramps and rods are seen in the images. The rover will study the planet’s soil and atmosphere as well as look for signs of ancient life.

The Allen Coral Atlas is led by Asner Lab to map and monitor the world’s coral reefs using satellites and field programs.
It has recently released the world’s first real-time, satellite-based global coral reef bleaching monitoring system. The System provides a comprehensive picture of changes to coral reefs over time. This information would be used for conservation of coral reefs.
