Veteran Tamil writer and Sahitya Akademi winner Ki Rajanarayanan popularly known as Ki Ra, passed away due to age related illness at the age of 98.
Since his first short story was published in 1958, the writer had an expansive literary career. Known as the pioneer of ‘Karisal Literature’, he won the Sakitya Akademi award in 1991 for the novel ‘Gopallapurathu Makkal’. ‘Karisal bhoomi’ is the hot and dry land of southern Tamil Nadu.

The Central Government announced to hike the fertiliser subsidy to Rs 1,200 per bag of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP).
This decision has been taken in a high-level meeting on the issue of fertiliser prices after taking into account of the rising prices of phosphoric acid, ammonia etc internationally. The subsidy was increased from Rs 500 per bag to Rs 1,200 per bag, at an increase of 140%.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed that all prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) or wallets that are fully KYC-compliant should be made interoperable by March 31, 2022.
The PPI issuers must provide interoperability through authorised card networks (for PPIs in the form of cards) and UPI (for PPIs in the form of electronic wallets).

India has reported cases of White Fungus infections, which is caused due to low immunity or if people come in contact with bodies containing these fungi.
Affected patients are diagnosed Covid negative, but the fungal infection can be detected only by a CT scan. The fungus affects lungs, nails, skin, stomach, kidney etc.

Every year, the World Bee Day is celebrated across the world on 20th May, by the United Nations. This day aims to raise awareness among the people on the role played by the pollinator.
This year’s theme for the World Bee Day is “Bee engaged – Build Back Better for Bees”.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has urged all the State and UT Governments to notify lack Fungus, also known as Mucormycosis as a notified disease under Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.
This infection is a serious fungal infection caused by a group of molds called mucormycetes and affects people who have health problems.

Veteran environmentalist and Padma Vibhushan awardee Sunderlal Bahuguna, recently passed away at the age of 94.
He was regarded as the pioneer of the Chipko movement which was a Gandhian form of protest against deforestation by locals in the Himalayan region. The first action of the movement took place in April 1973 in a village in Uttarakhand.

Air India’s passenger service system provider SITA faced a massive cyberattack recently, leading to leak of the personal data of a certain number of passengers. SITA is based at Geneva, Switzerland.
Data of 4.5 million passengers across the world has been was registered between August 11, 2011, and February 3, 2021, has been affected due to the cyberattack on SITA.
