Notes:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) asked its affiliated schools to consider providing the option of Indian languages mentioned in Schedule 8 of the Constitution as a medium of instruction, in addition to the existing options, from pre-primary classes to Class 12.
The move is a part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which envisages the use of mother tongue or regional or Indian languages as the medium of instruction until at least Grade 5, and preferably till Grade 8 and beyond.

The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat released the Manual for Disaster Management Plan (DMP) during the two-day national conference of Rural WASH Partners Forum. The Manual is developed by Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation to ensure safety, uninterrupted supply and minimum loss of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) assets and services involving stakeholders at national, state, district, and village level.

Indian Navy decommissioned INS Kirpan and handed over the indigenously built missile corvette to Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN).
INS Kirpan served for 32 years in the Indian Navy.  Navy Chief R. Hari Kumar announced that this is the first-ever occasion that India is offering a fully-operational corvette to any friendly foreign country.

Esther Vergeer and Rick Draney are to be inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame. 21-time Grand Slam singles champion and seven-time Paralympic gold medallist, Esther Vergeer began her career in an era when wheelchair tennis was not included in the top events.
Rick Draney, who won 12 singles titles and six in doubles before the Grand Slam era of wheelchair tennis. Draney has been credited with bringing quad tennis — a classification that accounts for impairment in the arms as well — to the Paralympics and other top tournaments.

Notes:
The Tamil Nadu State Coastal Zone Management Authority (TNSCZMA) intends to create at least five regional coordination units to establish an efficient system for identifying violations in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas, conducting essential monitoring, and taking appropriate actions against such violations.
The TNSCZMA has also suggested a significant increase in the scrutiny fee collected from project proponents.

Prime Minister has recently inaugurated the redeveloped India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Called ‘Bharat Mandapam’, the complex is the venue for the G-20 leaders’ meeting in September.

As part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration, the Union government has initiated the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, aimed at creating a garden along the Kartavya Path in Delhi.
Soil collected from various regions of India in August will be used for this purpose. The campaign includes events at different levels, starting with panchayat-level programs scheduled between August 9 and 15, followed by village, block, urban local body, state, and national-level programs.

World leaders assembled at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and urged for a renewed dedication to eliminate poverty, which is a crucial challenge outlined in the United Nations-mandated Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The HLPF serves as the primary global platform for monitoring and assessing progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and SDGs. The event took place in New York under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council.

The Rio Grande River, spanning 3,051 kilometers, flows from Colorado to the Gulf of Mexico and serves as the predominant border between the United States and Mexico throughout most of Texas.
Recently, the US Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the state of Texas and its Republican Governor Greg Abbott for placing floating barriers in the Rio Grande River to impede migrants from crossing over from Mexico.

Recently, Google Doodle honoured the 122nd birthday of Dr. Mod Helmy, an Egyptian-German medical professional born in 1901 in Khartoum, Sudan.
Despite the risks during the Holocaust, Dr. Helmy saved several Jews from Nazi persecution in Berlin.
