Scientists from Bangladesh and Mauritius joined the Indian research vessel ‘Sagar Nidhi’ for a collaborative oceanic expedition lasting approximately 35 days.
The expedition is being organized by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), operating under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

The foundation stone for the Inland Waterways Transport (IWT) terminal at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh, Assam was laid recently.
The terminal, located on the bank of the Brahmaputra River (National Waterways 2), will serve as a tourist-cum-cargo facility.

India hosted the summit for the first time and the grouping decided to induct Iran as its ninth and latest member.

NLC India Limited, a navratna company under the Ministry of Coal, has bagged the GeM award in the category “Timely Payments (CPSEs)” for the year 2023.
The award has been conferred to NLC India Limited for its outstanding contribution in improving the reliability of e-market practices of GeM. The company has registered a growth of Rs 984.93 crore in GEM procurements during the year FY 2022-23.

The seventh edition of the SALVEX exercise, which is a collaborative Salvage and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) drill between the Indian Navy and the US Navy took place recently in Kochi from June 26th to July 6th, 2023.
Since 2005, the Indian Navy (IN) and the US Navy (USN) have been engaging in joint Salvage and EOD exercises. This edition of the exercise witnessed the active involvement of both naval forces, with the participation of INS Nireekshak, USNS Salvor, as well as Specialist Diving and EOD teams.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Grievance Redressal (DARPG) has developed the National e Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) with an objective of measuring the effectiveness of the existing e Governance service delivery mechanism, from the citizen’s perspective.
The secretary of DARPG, has released the 3^rd edition of National e Governance Service Delivery Assessment.

The Reserve Bank recently constituted a working group on to accelerate the pace of internationalisation of the rupee, which is headed by RBI Executive Director Radha Shyam Ratho.
The working group has submitted its report and has recommended various measures, including inclusion of the rupee in the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket and recalibration of the foreign portfolio investor (FPI) regime etc.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Leqembi (lecanemab-irmb) which is a medication designed to treat Alzheimer’s disease.
However, this decision raises difficult issues concerning the safety and affordability of the drug.

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has identified an active supermassive black hole, marking it as the farthest one discovered to date.
The galaxy hosting this black hole, CEERS 1019, has survived for over 570 million years since the big bang, and the black hole itself is smaller in mass than any other found in the early universe.
