The Government of India has recently urged e-commerce companies to abstain from employing “dark patterns” on their platforms, which have the potential to deceive customers or manipulate their decision-making process.
Dark patterns, alternatively referred to as deceptive patterns are the methods employed by websites or applications to manipulate users into performing actions they did not intend to do.

The International Seabed Authority is a Jamaica-based intergovernmental body of 167 member states and the European Union established under the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The International Seabed Authority is making preparations to restart discussions that may potentially allow mining activities in the international seabed, called Deep Sea mining.

Recently, the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) has commemorated Ashadha Purnima as the Dharma Chakra Pravartana Divas at the National Museum in Janpath, New Delhi. The Ashadha Purnima falls every year on the full moon day of the month of Ashadha as per the Indian lunar calendar.
This event holds great significance as it is the annual flagship celebration of the IBC and is considered the second most sacred day for Buddhists, following the Buddha Purnima.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has given its approval to Japan’s proposal of releasing treated radioactive water from the decommissioned Fukushima nuclear reactor into the ocean.
The water at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, contaminated from fuel rod contact, has been distilled and is currently stored in tanks holding approximately 1.3 million tonnes of radioactive water.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp newly developed Threads app, intended to rival Twitter.
Recently, it was announced that it will not be released in the European Union (EU) at present. Regulatory concerns are preventing the app from being launched in the EU.

“Growth Recession” is the term used to describe an economy where job losses exceed job additions due to sluggish growth.
According to experts, the US economy is currently undergoing growth recession. US stock markets are soaring even as the economy struggles to avoid recession. The US is neither fully in recession nor growing to its full potential.

Emperor Septimius Severus, hailing from the Roman province of Africa, served as the Roman emperor from 193 to 211.
A dispute has arisen between a Danish Museum and Turkey regarding a bronze head of Emperor Septimius Severus showcased in a Copenhagen Museum. Turkey asserts that the head was unlawfully obtained during an archaeological excavation in the 1960s and is requesting its return.

India and Mumbai City FC footballer Lallianzuala Chhangte was named as the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) Men’s Footballer of the Year for 2022-23.
Manisha Kalyan was named as the AIFF Women’s Footballer of the Year for 2022-23. She recently became the first Indian to play in UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Every year, 7^th July is celebrated by the United Nations as the World Kiswahili Language Day. A resolution in this regard was adopted in 2017 in order to inform and raise awareness of their history, culture and use.
Kiswahili is the first African language to the recognized in such a manner by the UN. The Theme of 2023 is “Unleashing Kiswahili’s potential in the digital era”.

Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy will lead the marching contingent of the IAF at the Bastille Day parade in Paris.
She had led the marching contingent of the Indian Air Force during the Republic Day parade this year. She is a Mi-17 pilot, Sindhu Reddy has also flown light choppers.
