Trichonephila clavata, also known as the Joro spiders, originally from East Asia, have started spreading throughout the United States, establishing Georgia as their new habitat.
These striking spiders are known for their colorful appearance and the impressive size of their webs. Female Joro spiders can grow up to 3 inches, while males are smaller. Joro spiders are orb weavers, spinning large circular webs.

Latvia’s long-serving foreign minister Edgars Rinkēvičs was sworn in as the Baltic nation’s president for a four-year term.
He is known for his tough line on neighbouring Russia and strong support for Ukraine. In 2024, he announced that he is gay, and hence Edgars Rinkēvičs is EU’s first openly gay President.

India is in the final stages of establishing a unique partnership with the renowned Louvre Museum to assist in the design and planning of the proposed new National Museum in the national capital, located on Raisina Hill.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Paris, an extensive cultural agreement is expected to be signed between the Indian and French governments.

Recently, the Indian government released a draft notice that requires the installation of air-conditioning systems in truck cabins, manufactured from 1st January 2025 onwards.
This step aims to enhance the working environment for truck drivers in India. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said installation of air-conditioning system in the cabins of motor vehicles belonging to categories N2 and N3 will be mandatory. The N2 category motor vehicles are goods carriages of 3.5 tons, while N3 exceed 12 tons.

Ace Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar secured her place in the Asian Games squad, following a 21-month suspension due to a doping violation.
Dipa Karmakar garnered the maximum points to emerge as the number one female gymnast in the individual all-around competition in the Asian Games selection trials at the Kalinga Stadium.

The third G20 Sherpas meeting that drafted the Leaders Declaration on key issues of global importance concluded in Hampi, Karnataka.
Over 120 delegates from G20 members, invitee countries, and various international and regional organizations came together to jointly draft and co-create the Leaders Declaration in this historic city and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya.
It aims for promoting the use of millets and healthy eating practices among the armed forces and ensure availability of safe and nutritious food.

The space agency will commemorate this anniversary by releasing a new science image in a live stream.NASA unveiled a brand-new Webb science image on July 12, showcasing the birth of a star in the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex.

Namda is a type of rug exclusively made in Jammu and Kashmir, by enmeshing wool fibers with water, soap and pressure and then embroidering the resultant fabric.
Nearly 2200 individuals from six districts in Jammu and Kashmir are undergoing training in the endangered Namda craft, as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) under Skill India’s Pilot Project.

India is hosting the Global Food Regulators Summit 2023. This the first time, India is hosting this event.
The summit, organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The meeting is scheduled from July 20th and 21st, 2023, at Manekshaw Auditorium in New Delhi.
