Assam has initiated the ‘Gajah Kotha’ campaign to address the growing issue of human-elephant conflict (HEC) by involving more than 1,200 individuals in promoting coexistence.
The campaign focuses on villages in eastern Assam affected by HEC, aiming to educate residents about the behavior, ecology, and cultural significance of elephants in the region while emphasizing the importance of their conservation efforts.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited the United Arab Emirates. During the visit, India and the UAE signed agreements pertaining to the utilization of local currencies for cross-border transactions and the establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Abu Dhabi.
Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to the UAE marked his fifth visit to the country since assuming office in 2014.

India’s space agency, Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO, is jointly developing a nuclear-powered engine along with Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC).
Both institutions collaborate to develop Radio Thermoelectric Generators (RTGs). US spacecrafts such as the Voyager, Cassini and Curiosity have been powered by RTGs.

U.K. officially signed accession protocol for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Entry into force of the agreement will take place once the UK and CPTPP Parties have finished their legislative processes.

The United States has handed over 105 antiquities to India. The repatriation ceremony was held at the Indian Consulate in New York and the antiquities would soon be transported to India.
The handing over of the artefacts is a follow up of an agreement to the effect during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the U.S. last month. India and the U.S. have also agreed to work for a Cultural Property Agreement that would help prevent illegal trafficking of cultural artefacts in future.

The exhibition titled “India’s Historical Journey with Africa: Marching Ahead Together” was inaugurated at the National Museum, New Delhi.
It is a collaborative effort between the National Museum, South African High Commission, and the Vivekananda International Foundation. It is organized in commemoration of Nelson Mandela’s birth anniversary.

By November 2024, a functional factory will be established in Vadodara, Gujarat, where the production of the first Indian-manufactured C295 military transport aircraft will commence from 2026 onwards.
The facility will resemble the extensive Airbus factory located in Seville, Spain, which spans over 1.2 million square meters.

The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023 was cleared recently by the Union Cabinet. It aims to replace the long-standing ‘Press and Registration of Books (PRB) Act 1867.
The Act has been in existence for 155 years. The new bill introduces simplified legislation that decriminalizes certain provisions and expands its scope to include digital media.

Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud has issued a directive to judges, advising them against using their protocol facilities in a way that might inconvenience others or lead to public criticism of the judiciary.
He cautioned that judges should not use the protocol privileges to create a sense of privilege that separates them from society or displays their power or authority.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse, which is acclaimed as the largest office space in a single project globally.
The Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) has been strategically designed to relocate and expand the diamond trading industry from Mumbai to Surat, the central hub for diamond cutting and polishing, with the intention of further growth and development.
