Assam has initiated the ‘Gajah Kotha’ campaign to address the growing issue of human-elephant conflict (HEC) by involving more than 1,200 individuals in promoting coexistence.
The campaign focuses on villages in eastern Assam affected by HEC, aiming to educate residents about the behavior, ecology, and cultural significance of elephants in the region while emphasizing the importance of their conservation efforts.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour by French President Emmanuel Macron.
This prestigious recognition is the highest honor bestowed by France, whether in military or civilian realms.

IIT Delhi has signed an agreement to establish a campus in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with the aim of promoting educational and research collaborations between India and the UAE.
The campus will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines. IIT Madras earlier announced a similar venture in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

India and France have decided to collaborate in development of combat aircraft engine and engines specifically for the Indian Multi Role Helicopter (IMRH) which is a project undertaken by the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
In this regard, HAL and Safran Helicopter Engine have finalized a Shareholders’ Agreement for the development of engines.

India’s space agency, Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO, is jointly developing a nuclear-powered engine along with Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC).
Both institutions collaborate to develop Radio Thermoelectric Generators (RTGs). US spacecrafts such as the Voyager, Cassini and Curiosity have been powered by RTGs.

To ensure the availability of high-quality education, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to establish 9,000 ‘CM Rise’ schools.
During his visit to Shajapur district, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated a CM Rise School in Gulana village. He also announced that the school would be dedicated to the renowned jurist and social reformer, Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Secretary Swapnil Naik launched the Yuva Tourism Club in an event organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Arunachal Pradesh State Tourism Department.
The Yuva Tourism Club is an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism, to nurture and develop young ambassadors of tourism. It aims at making these young ambassadors to be a catalyst for promoting tourism in India.

Recently, the G20 Independent Expert Group on Strengthening Multilateral Development Banks has proposed that multilateral development banks (MDBs) embrace a triple mandate focused on eradicating extreme poverty, promoting inclusive growth, and financing global public goods.
Additionally, they have suggested the establishment of a ‘Global Challenges Funding’ mechanism specifically dedicated to funding global public goods.

Notes:
Mediation Bill, 2021 was approved recently by the Union Cabinet. The Bill encompasses a structure for resolving civil or commercial conflicts through mediation prior to seeking legal intervention from a court or tribunal.  It comes under Ministry of Law and Justice.
This proposed law is expected to make participation in pre-litigation mediation compulsory, aiming to establish an effective method for dispute resolution and reduce the burden of unnecessary litigation on the judiciary.
