BOB Financial, the credit card arm of Bank of Baroda and Mastercard have jointly launched small business-focussed QR code embedded credit card.
Named ‘ConQR’, it enables cardholders/ SMEs to accept cashless payments using their cards. Small businesses can use QR to make payments as well as receive payments with affordable and simple process.

Notes:
The Indian Navy has deployed ‘Oxygen Express’ to island territories of Lakshadweep. As a part of COVID fight, Indian Naval ship INS Shrada, in the name of oxygen express delivered Covid relief materials like oxygen cylinders, rapid antigen testing kits etc., to Lakshadweep.
Similar relief materials have been sent to Port Blair of Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the Indian Navy.

Chad’s new military rulers have recently named Albert Pahimi Padacke, who was runner-up in the country’s recent presidential election, as Prime minister of a transitional government.
This move comes a week after President Idriss Deby’s death during his visit to the troops fighting rebels. Subsequently, a military council seized power and have selected the Interim Prime Minister.

In a first of its kind, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has developed single crystal blade technology.
This has been developed for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to be used for their helicopter development programme. 60 blades under the newly developed technology have been supplied to HAL.

China has unveiled a new anti-espionage regulation, which seeks to prevent ‘foreign infiltration’ in key companies and organisations.
Under the regulation, the National security authority will prepare lists of the firms that are susceptible to foreign infiltration and require security measures. The regulation will also draft the procedures to guard against foreign threats and espionage.

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021 has come into force in the national capital.
According to the amended legislation, the “government” in Delhi means the ” Lieutenant Governor “. The elected representatives of the UT will have to seek the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor before taking any executive decision.

The Asian Development Bank has recently released a report titled Developing Asia’s Economic Outlook.
As per the report, Asia’s economy shrank by 0.2% in 2020. Although recovery has commenced in Asia, the recovery is registered at different speeds. Also, average inflation in the region is forecast to fall from 2.8% in 2020 to 2.3% in 2021.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and its partners namely UN children’s agency and the vaccine alliance Gavi, have set a new global vaccination strategy- Immunisation Agenda 2030 (IA2030). It aims to save 50 million lives within the year 2030, with 75 per cent of the children in poor countries.
This strategy calls for boost in vaccination drives against measles and other diseases prevailing worldwide.

Veteran Gujarati poet Dadudan Gadhvi has recently passed away. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2021 for his contribution in literature and education.
He had also won several other awards including the Gujarat Gaurav Award as well as the Jhaverchand Meghani Award. His complete works are collected in two literary volumes named Terva and Lachhanayan.

Notes:
The Plain of Jars is a famous archaeological landscape located in northern Laos. It consists of thousands of stone jars scattered around the valleys and the foothills of the Xiangkhoang Plateau.
As per a recent research, the mysterious Plain of Jars were likely used as a burial site for much longer than previously known. The research suggests that the massive jars could be more than 3,000 years old.
