During the virtual summit on climate change convened by US President Joe Biden, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India and the US are launching an “Agenda 2030” partnership on green collaborations.
“India-US Climate and Clean Energy Agenda 2030 Partnership”, aims to implement actions at high speed and on a large scale globally, to combat climate change. The summit was attended by various country leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping, his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin etc.

Angola is a nation located in the eastern coast of African continent, with Luanda as its capital. Angolan kwanza is the country’s currency.
The nation is in news recently due to the heavy torrential rainstorm that has hit the capital city. The death toll has been reported to be over 25 and more than 2000 houses have been flooded.

Every year, Earth Day is observed on April 22nd. The first such day was observed in the year 1970.
In this year’s Earth Day, US President Joe Biden announced his commitment to slash the US’s carbon emission by at least 50% by the year 2030, based on 2005 levels.

The Indian Navy has deployed ‘Oxygen Express’ to island territories of Lakshadweep. As a part of COVID fight, Indian Naval ship INS Shrada, in the name of oxygen express delivered Covid relief materials like oxygen cylinders, rapid antigen testing kits etc., to Lakshadweep.
Similar relief materials have been sent to Port Blair of Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the Indian Navy.

Chad’s new military rulers have recently named Albert Pahimi Padacke, who was runner-up in the country’s recent presidential election, as Prime minister of a transitional government.
This move comes a week after President Idriss Deby’s death during his visit to the troops fighting rebels. Subsequently, a military council seized power and have selected the Interim Prime Minister.

Football star and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham is serving as the Vaccine Ambassador, to create awareness and confidence in the process of vaccination.
HE recently featured in a video released ahead of World Immunization Week. He has also founded ‘7 Fund for UNICEF’ to encourage parents to vaccinate themselves and their children and protect them against diseases such as diphtheria, measles, and polio.

India has been ranked at 49th position in Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI). Finland has topped the index.
The index ranks 104 countries, under which each country is measured across over 50 open data points. It is based in seven pillars which are leadership and foresight; robust laws and policies; strong institutions; financial stewardship; attractive marketplace; global influence and reputation; and helping people rise.

The Asian Development Bank has recently released a report titled Developing Asia’s Economic Outlook.
As per the report, Asia’s economy shrank by 0.2% in 2020. Although recovery has commenced in Asia, the recovery is registered at different speeds. Also, average inflation in the region is forecast to fall from 2.8% in 2020 to 2.3% in 2021.

Yanbu is a port city on the Red Sea coast of western part of the Saudi Arabia. Recently, a remotely piloted boat packed with explosives has been found by the kingdom near the port of Yanbu in the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia claimed to have intercepted and destroyed the attack boat, which caused a blast. Ther have been a series of attacks on shipping in the Mideast region amid a shadow war and negotiations between Iran and Israel.

The Asian Development Bank has recently released a report titled Developing Asia’s Economic Outlook.
As per the report, India’s economy is expected to grow 11% in fiscal year (FY) 2021-22. This growth is backed by a strong vaccination drive which is undertaken in India. At the same time, the report warned that the surge in cases may lead to economic risks.
