As per a statement by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), the export of processed food by India has increased by 26.51 per cent during April-February 2020-21. By value, the increase stood at Rs.43,798 crore.
This increase has been achieved despite COVID 19 pandemic prevailing throughout the world.

World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) member states designated April 26 as World IP Day with the aim of increasing general understanding of IP, in the year 2000. WIPO is headquartered at Geneva.
World Intellectual Property Day 2021 focusses on the critical role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the economy and how they can use intellectual property (IP) rights to build competitive and resilient businesses.

Renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Pt Rajan Mishra recently passed away. He was 70 years old and was affected by COVID 19 disease.
He is one of the legends in khayal gayaki (a major form of Hindustani music) and is a recipient of Padma Bushan, one of the nation’s highest civilian honours.

Sumatran rhinos are the smallest of the living rhinoceroses. They are the only Asian rhinoceros with two horns. They are characterised by their long hair and hence are known as the hairy rhinoceros.
With just less than 100 individuals remaining, the Sumatran rhinoceros is one of the world’s most endangered mammal species. Recently, a study found that the remaining populations of the Sumatran rhinoceros display very low levels of inbreeding, which is a good sign for conservation.

The Union Ministry of Agriculture has certified Andaman and Nicobar Islands as organic, under the Large Area Certification (LAC) Scheme of the PGS-India (Participatory Guarantee System) certification programme.
In a first of such kind, about 14,491-hectare (ha) area of contiguous territory has been certified as organic by the Agriculture Ministry.

Notes:
A massive forest fire has been raging in the hills near Lunglei town, which is situated in the state of Mizoram. The fire is reported to have spread to towns and villages of in and around Lunglei and Lawngtlai districts of the state.
The state has deployed the firefighting team, who have taken assistance from the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force and IAF personnel to put off the fire.

The President of USA Joe Biden has recognized the mass killing of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire during World War I in 1915, as an act of Genocide.
This statement was made by the US President recently on the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, and he committed that US would preventing such an atrocity from ever again occurring in future.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of an agreement between India and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, for sharing information and preventing Customs offences.
The proposed agreement is expected to facilitate trade and ensure faster customs clearance between the three countries.

Veteran Gujarati poet Dadudan Gadhvi has recently passed away. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2021 for his contribution in literature and education.
He had also won several other awards including the Gujarat Gaurav Award as well as the Jhaverchand Meghani Award. His complete works are collected in two literary volumes named Terva and Lachhanayan.

Dr Krithi K Karanth, Chief Conservation Scientist and Executive Director at Bengaluru-based Centre for Wildlife Studies (CWS), is the first Indian and Asian woman to be selected for the 2021 ‘WILD Innovator Award’.
This award given by the ‘WILD ELEMENTS Foundation’. CWS is an internationally recognized centre-of-excellence in the fields of wildlife research, conservation, policy, and education.
