Notes:
The Indian Government has decided to resume providing free food grains to the poor in May and June.
The 5-kg additional food grains to PDS beneficiaries is to be provided under the PMGKAY for two months -May and June. But this time, pulses are not being provided to the poor. PMGKAY was announced in 2020 from May to November to help poor people tackle the pandemic.

Notes:
The State Bank of India (SBI) Research, in its recent research report forecasted that India’s GDP would grow at 10.4% in the financial year 2021-22.
Earlier, SBI had forecasted a higher 11% of growth rate for Indian Economy. The reason for the lower growth was on account of the increasing restrictions across states. Ramping up Covid-19 vaccination efforts would be the preferred way to tackle the surging second wave of the pandemic in India, as per the report.

SVAMITVA Scheme is a Central Sector scheme launched on National Panchayat Day i.e 24th April 2020. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) is the Nodal Ministry for implementation of the scheme.
Recently, e-property cards under SWAMITVA have been distributed to 4.09 lakh property owners in 5,000 villages by the Prime Minster of India.

The Commercial Crew Program (CCP) is a project in which NASA is working with business partners to build rockets and spacecraft. It aims to send astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) from the United States.
Recently, four astronauts were launched to the International Space Station (ISS) from Florida as part of a partnership between NASA and SpaceX under the Commercial Crew Program. The mission is called Crew-2 and is the first with international partners.

NASA’s mini helicopter named Ingenuity, which is presently stationed at Mars has recently completed its third flight in the Mars atmosphere.
The aircraft hovered at about 6.6 feet per second, which is the highest speed achieved by the chopper. During this flight, it has covered a distance of 64 feet (50 meters).

Renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Pt Rajan Mishra recently passed away. He was 70 years old and was affected by COVID 19 disease.
He is one of the legends in khayal gayaki (a major form of Hindustani music) and is a recipient of Padma Bushan, one of the nation’s highest civilian honours.

Three number of small Indian civets have been rescued and recovered by the East Godavari Wildlife Management authorities in two separate rescue operations.
The small Indian civet, bearing scientific name Viverricula indica, is native to South and Southeast Asia. It is categorized as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List.

The Chernobyl nuclear disaster took place in the year 1986. Every year the United Nations observes April 26 as the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the nuclear disaster. This day is dedicated to raise awareness of regarding the risks of nuclear energy and the consequences of Chernobyl disaster.

Indo-German project ‘Pyrasol’ was launched to transform urban organic waste into biochar and energy in smart cities. It was awarded to CSIR-CLRI by the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre.
It aims for joint processing of Fibrous Organic Waste (FOW) and Sewage Sludge (SS) of Indian smart cities into Biochar. The foundation stone of the Integrated Solar Dryer and Pyrolysis pilot was recently laid at CSIR-CLRI, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Yanbu is a port city on the Red Sea coast of western part of the Saudi Arabia. Recently, a remotely piloted boat packed with explosives has been found by the kingdom near the port of Yanbu in the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia claimed to have intercepted and destroyed the attack boat, which caused a blast. Ther have been a series of attacks on shipping in the Mideast region amid a shadow war and negotiations between Iran and Israel.
