Indian Naval Ship (INS) Suvarna seized over 300 kg of narcotic substances recently. The ship encountered a fishing vessel with suspicious movements while it was on surveillance patrol in the Arabian Sea.
The boat, along with its crew, was escorted to the Kochi port, Kerala for further investigation. The approximate cost of the seizure in the international market is estimated to be Rs 3000 Crore.

The American Space Agency NASA’s robot helicopter named Ingenuity has successfully flown over the surface of Mars.
This makes it the first powered – controlled flight by an aircraft on another planet. Bob Balaram, an Indian origin NASA Engineer is considered to be the man behind Ingenuity helicopter.

Fighters of the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT) rebel group was formed in 2016. The group said to have crossed into Chad recently with the aim of overthrowing President Idriss Deby.
A day after provisional results of Deby being re-elected, the military announced that President, had died due to wounds suffered during a battle against the rebels.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has recommended the US Government to place India on the CPC list (i.e) ‘Countries of Particular Concern’, for violation of religious freedoms in the year 2020.
It has also recommended for imposition of targeted sanctions on Indian individuals and entities for violating religious freedoms.

Every year, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) celebrates the fourth Thursday of April as the International Girls in ICT Day. This year, 22nd April marked the 10th Anniversary of the day and was observed with the theme Connected Girls; Creating Brighter Futures.”
The International Telecommunication Union is an UN specialized agency and is headquartered in Geneva.

The United States of America (USA) has joined Leadership Group for Industry Transition “LeadIT” – which is a climate initiative by India and Sweden.
With USA joining the LeadIT, it is expected that the partnership would help meet Paris Agreement goals, strengthen competitiveness and create new sustainable jobs in all the three countries.

As per the recent report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the USA is the world’s largest military spender in 2020.
The top five spenders are the China, India, Russia and the United Kingdom, other than the USA. These five countries together accounted for 62 per cent of global military expenditure. An increase of 2.6 per cent in military spending was recorded in the year.

A dedicated community service centre named Aditya-L1 Support Cell (AL1SC) has been set up by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES).
This service centre would bring all data pertaining to the India’s first solar space mission onto a single web-based interface. It has been set up in ARIES transit campus at Haldwani – Uttarakhand.

The Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy recently announced that it has started providing training to its non-medical personnel to function as Battlefield nursing assistants due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
In times of mass medical emergencies like wars, Battlefield nursing assistants play a significant role in assisting the frontline medical teams. All medical personnel from the armed forces who have retired in the last two years are also being called back to work.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are medicines that are widely used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and bring down a high temperature.
As per the recent guidelines from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), some painkillers like Ibuprofen are found to worsen COVID-19. Hence, it advised against consuming non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
