On November 13, 2019, the Supreme Court upheld the 2010 judgment of Delhi High Court that the RTI (Right to Information) act was applicable to the office of CJI (Chief Justice of India) as well. The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was observed on 17 November 2019. This day is observed every year across the world on the third Sunday of November. It marks appropriate acknowledgment of victims of road traffic crashes and their families. The theme (motto) of this year’s World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was “Life is not a car part”. It was based on Pillar 3 of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety – Safer vehicles.

Notes:
An all-electric racing aircraft was unveiled by Air Race E, an Airbus-backed European planemaker, at the on-going Dubai Air Show. The aircraft was called White Lightning. It was the world’s first all-electric racing aircraft. The aircraft is to be manufactured by the UK-based Condor Aviation. The aircraft aims to boost its green aerospace technology.

Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) has constituted a 13-member expert committee to review the Draft National Code for Good Governance in Sports, 2017.
The committee will be chaired by Retired SC Justice Mukundakam Sharma and member includes former Indian football team captain Baichung Bhutia, Pullela Gopichand, Anju Bobby George, Olympic medalist Gagan Narang, among others. Moreover, Joint Secretary of Sports will act as coordinator in committee.

A three-day international conference on nanoscience and nanotechnology has begun at the Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore on November 29,2019. Eminent scientists and researchers from across the globe, representatives from 25 companies, students and academicians are expected to share their knowledge on the same platform over the next three days. More than 60 renowned speakers are slated to speak on the latest developments in the field and over 500 research papers are expected to be submitted during the conference, organised by the Centre for Nanotechnology Research, VIT.

The result of Swachh Survekshan League 2020 was recently released by the Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri for the first and second Quarters of this year. Under the category of cities with 10 lakh plus population, Indore topped in both the first and second quarters. The famous city of Madhya Pradesh, Indore was also the topper of the league in the previous year. Bhopal and Surat were ranked second and third in the first quarter respectively and Rajkot and Navi Mumbai in the second quarter.

Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister was the first one to be booked under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.  The disability activist Satendra Singh filed case against him on publicly humiliating a disabled employee.

Indian agriculture sector has many problems like low agricultural productivity, lack of modernisation and lack of diversification in its output, high dependence are some of the problems. APMC reforms are an issue in India but recently e-nam has been introduced.

The wheat production during the year 2019-20 is the highest in the lat decade. Production of wheat during 2019-20 is estimated at record 106.21 million tonne, which is higher by 2.61 million tonnes compared with wheat production during 2018-19 and is 11.60 million tonnes higher than the five-year average wheat production of 94.61 million tonnes.
