Simona Halep, a Romanian professional tennis player and currently World No. 1 has been awarded the Title of Honorary Citizen of Bucharest in 2018. The Press Council of India presented National Awards For Excellence in Journalism, 2019. The chairman of Rajasthan Patrika Pvt. Limited Gulab Kothari won the Raja Ram Mohan Roy award. Raj Chengappa, Group Editorial Director (Publishing) of India Today, shares the award on ‘Rural Journalism’ with Dainik Bhaskar correspondent Sanjay Saini. Shiv Swaroop Awasthi, reporter Dainik Jagran and Anu Abrahim, sub-editor Mathrubhumi, won in the “Developmental Reporting” category.

”No Money For Terror-2019” conference was inaugurated in Melbourne, Australia. India will host the next edition of the ‘No Money For Terror’ conference to be held in 2020.India called for a united global effort against all those who support terror or help generate finances for terrorism. The ‘No Money For Terror’ conference is organized by Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) of over 100 countries, jointly called The Egmont Group.

India will host the 19th Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in 2020. The first such high level meeting of the eight-member grouping is to be organized by New Delhi after its admission to the bloc in 2017. The SCO is a China-led eight-member economic and security bloc, in which India and Pakistan were admitted as full members in 2017. Its founding members included China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 15, 2019 launched ‘Mukhyamantri Septic Tank Safai Yojana’. It is a scheme aimed at helping people in waste management and ensuring the safety of sanitation workers. Delhi Jal Board (DJB) will deploy 80 trucks along with trained staff to ensure cleaning and maintenance of septic tanks across Delhi.

David Attenborough, a renowned naturalist, has been conferred with the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development 2019 for his tireless efforts towards awakening the humankind to the need to preserve and protect the planet’s biodiversity. Sir David Attenborough, as he is popularly known, has been recognized with the award for his lifetime worth of work to reveal the wonders of the natural world and awaken mankind to live in a sustainable and harmonious way and stop being a “plague on earth”.
