All given statements are related to INS Kalvari. INS Kalvari is Indian Navy’s first indigenous Scorpene-class submarine. The second one INS Khanderi, which is expected to be commissioned by mid-2018, the third one is INS Karanj following by early-2019. Total of six scorpene-class submarines are to be inducted in Indian Navy by 2020-2021. The diesel-electric submarine is designed by French naval defence and energy company DCNS.

As per Economy Survey 2017-18, five States Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana account for 70 % of India’s exports. Out of which, Maharashtra ranks first and account for 22.2 percent of share in export, Gujarat ranks second with 17.2 percent of the share, Karnataka ranks third with 12.7 percent share, Tamil Nadu at fourth place with 11.6 percent and Telangana at fifth place with 6.4 percent share. Also when it comes to inter-state trade, the five largest exporting states are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Also, in case of inter-state trade, the five largest importing states are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat.

Recently, the Ministry of AYUSH has set up an AYUSH Information Cell at the premises of the Indian Embassy in Romania to disseminate authentic information about AYUSH system of medicine. The AYUSH Information Cell in Romania will also be helpful to create awareness about the traditional Indian system of medicine. It will help to organise lectures, consultation, conduct seminars, training courses and facilitate associations of AYUSH stakeholders for networking conducting meetings, develop awareness of AYUSH system among public in Romania. The cell was digitally inaugurated by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu during his recent visit to Romania in September 2018. On this occasion, a book on ‘Ayurveda in Romania’ was also released by Vice president.

Uber Cup is a major international badminton championship for women. It was first held in 1957. As of 2018, 16 teams took part in Uber Cup. The tournament is held on the same lines of Thomas Cup.

Soviet Union has lifted maximum number of Gold medals in the all time medal count till the 2018 World Wrestling Championships. It has bagged 253 gold medals, 93 silver medals and 69 bronze medals.

The report titled ‘Mid-Monsoon 2019 Lightning’ has been prepared by Climate Resilient Observing Systems Promotion Council (CROSPC), a research body of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). It’s a first-of-its-kind report on lightning incidents in India. As per report, in the 4-month period between April and July, Odisha recorded the highest number of lightning strikes in the country, followed by Maharashtra with 6.26 lakh strikes and Karnataka with 6.21 lakh. The lightning strikes have caused at least 1,311 deaths. UP recorded the highest casualties with 224 deaths, followed by Bihar (170), Odisha (129) and Jharkhand (118).

Unseeded Prithvi Sekhar from Chennai has clinched the men’s singles title in the 2nd edition of World Deaf Tennis Championships (WDTC-2019). In the final, he defeated Jaroslav Smedek of the Czech Republic by 6-4, 6-3 points in Antalya, Turkey. He also won the men’s doubles bronze medal with Prashanth Dasharath Harsambhavi in this event.

• Santosh Yadav is an Indian mountaineer. She is the first woman in the world to climb Mount Everest twice, and the first woman to successfully climb Mt. Everest from Kangshung Face. She climbed the peak first in May 1992 and then again in May 1993.

• Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish poet and playwright. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London’s most popular playwrights in the early 1890s.
