Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar assumes the chairship of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) for 2026. India is elected as Chair under the rotational system and will hold the post till 2033. India is among the 14 founding member states of International IDEA. The charge is assumed in Stockholm, Sweden, in the presence of Ambassador Anurag Bhushan. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is globally recognised as a credible Election Management Body (EMB). India has 900+ million voters across 28 States and 8 Union Territories (UTs).

Notes:
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has become India’s first water-positive airport handling over 40 million passengers per year. Water-positive means the airport recharges more water than it consumes, helping conserve natural resources. The achievement was announced by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). This step also supports IGIA’s long-term goal of becoming a net-zero airport and improving climate readiness.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, launched Hansa-3(NG), first indigenous all-composite two-seater trainer aircraft for Private Pilot License (PPL) and Commercial Pilot License (CPL) training at CSIR–National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru. Hansa-3(NG) reduces foreign dependence and boosts aviation entrepreneurship. The aircraft will help flying clubs meet India’s growing demand for trained pilots.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) won the Gold Prize for Public Outreach and Communication at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 in New Delhi. The award recognised its innovative, inclusive, and people-friendly communication through the GST and Customs Pavilion. The pavilion ran from 14–27 November 2025 with the theme “Next-Gen Goods and Services Tax (GST): Simple Tax, Prosperous Nation.”

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and indigenously built frigate INS Udaygiri are representing the Indian Navy at the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025. IFR 2025 is hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy in Colombo from 27 to 29 November 2025, as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations. This marks the maiden overseas deployment of both ships and showcases India’s indigenous shipbuilding capabilities.

India has over 705 unique tribal groups, making up 8.6% of its population, preserving rich traditional arts and handicrafts. The 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) is conducted in New Delhi, showcasing tribal artforms under Ek Bharat: Shrestha Bharat (“One India: Great India”). The Government of India and state governments support tribal communities to exhibit their work and reach wider audiences. Silk-based tribal art is significant; India is the second largest global silk producer. Tribals like Sachin Walke from the Gond community weave tasar silk sarees with Warli and karvat prints.

Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility at GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park – SEZ, Hyderabad has been inaugurated. It is a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre for LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) engines of Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It is one of the world’s largest aircraft engine MROs and the first global engine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) MRO set up in India.

The 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 recently began at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi with the theme ‘Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat’. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Bihar are partner states, while Jharkhand is the focus state. Around 30 states, 60 ministries, and 12 countries, including UAE, China, Iran, South Korea, and Egypt, participated. The fair promotes major domestic and international trade linkages.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent has reached Mont-de-Marsan Air Base in France for the bilateral air exercise Garuda-2025, held from November 16 to 27. Exercise Garuda is a bilateral air exercise conducted between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force. The exercise reflects the strong India–France strategic partnership in defence, technology, and security. The drill aims to boost interoperability, share best practices, and further strengthen defence cooperation between the two air forces.

In November 2025, Heritage Foods Limited (HFL), a private-sector dairy company, received the Golden Peacock Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance (GPAECG) 2025. The award was presented by the Institute of Directors (IOD), India, during the IOD London Global Convention on Corporate Governance & Sustainability held from 4th to 7th November 2025 in London, United Kingdom (UK). Heritage Foods Limited (HFL) was among 11 national winners and the only Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) firm to win the honour this year. The Golden Peacock Awards were instituted in 1991 by IOD India to promote ethical leadership, good governance, and sustainable business practices.
