Notes: In 1815, Raja Ram Mohan Roy established the Atmiya Sabha, a precursor in the socio-religious reforms in Bengal. To propagate the monotheistic doctrine of Hindu scriptures, he founded the Atmiya Sabha (1815-19). The main activity of the Sabha was conducting discussion and debate sessions on monotheistic Hindu Vedantism and similar subjects. In 1828, he established the Brahmo Sabha, later the Brahmo Samaj.
