Notes: El Salvador’s has its very own folk dance, known as Xuc which originated in Cojutepeque, Cuscatlan. The Xuc (pronounced Suc) is a typical dance of El Salvador, which was created by Paquito Palaviccini. Xuc name comes from a Salvadoran instrument called “JUCO” a wind instrument typical of El Salvador. It was only in 1958, 16 years after the creation of Xuc when the first choreography was created. The assembly was choreographed by a dancer in the group of Salvadoran Morena Celarie dance and became part of the festivities at the famous Carnival of San Miguel” (Xuc). The dancers are typically girls and women. They usually dress big colour dresses with flowers in their hair. Similar to the Mexican tradition dance "Folklorico".
