Notes: Tranquebar, now known as Tharangambadi is located in the Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu. It was established as the first Danish trading post in India on November 19, 1620. Danish admiral Ove Gjedde, who led the first Danish expedition of Danish East India Company had purchased it with Raghunatha Nayak and built a fort, which is known as Fort Dansborg.
