Project GANGA for Rural Broadband in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Project GANGA in Lucknow on 9 June 2026. GANGA stands for Government Assisted Network for Growth and Advancement, and the project aims to provide fibre-based broadband connectivity to rural households in Uttar Pradesh.

Project Scope

The project targets about 20 lakh families for high-speed internet access and digital economy participation. It will be rolled out first in 21 districts and later extended to all 57,000 Gram Panchayats and 8,000 Nyaya Panchayats in the state.

Implementation Framework

OneOTT Intertainment Limited, the broadband arm of the Hinduja Group, is associated with the project as a Knowledge Partner and Implementation Enabler on a no profit, no loss basis. The project plans to create more than one lakh direct and indirect jobs and to develop 8,000 to 10,000 Digital Service Providers.

Digital Services Under the Project

Project GANGA covers digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, online skill training, public Wi-Fi, cybersecurity, smart agriculture, and IT-based employment. The project is linked with fibre broadband networks and digital service delivery in rural areas.

About 50% of the beneficiaries under Project GANGA are expected to be women. The project is linked with rural connectivity, digital access, and self-reliance in Uttar Pradesh.
