Pakistan-China Sign Three Cooperation MoUs
Pakistan and China have signed three new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to deepen bilateral cooperation in water desalination, agricultural technology and the tea industry. The agreements were signed during President Asif Ali Zardari’s week-long visit to China, reflecting growing economic coordination between the two countries.
Focus on Water Desalination in Karachi
The first MoU was signed between the Sindh local government and Lucion Environmental Technology Group for a seawater desalination project in Karachi. The project aims to improve water availability in the port city, which faces regular shortages and increasing urban demand. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon signed the agreement with Lucion Group Chairman Yuhui.
Agricultural Technology Collaboration
A second agreement was signed between the Sindh local government and Long Ping Hi-tech Information Company to strengthen agricultural technology cooperation. The partnership will support modern farming methods, seed development and productivity improvement. Pakistan has shown strong interest in Chinese expertise in agricultural research and advanced farming systems.
Tea Industry Partnership
The third MoU was signed between Meskay & Femtee Trading Company, Hunan Tea Group and Jiaolong International Technology. The agreement seeks to expand cooperation across the tea value chain and improve trade, production and people-to-people links. Senator Saleem Mandviwalla signed on behalf of Pakistan, while Hunan Tea Group Chairman Zhou Chongwang and Hao Jiaolong represented the Chinese side.
