Operation Amistad Sends Indian Aid to Venezuela

India launched Operation Amistad on 26 June 2026 to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to Venezuela after two earthquakes caused deaths and injuries. Two Indian Air Force C-17 transport aircraft departed with relief material, and the mission included medical support for damaged areas in Venezuela.

Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief

India dispatched more than 35 tonnes of humanitarian assistance under Operation Amistad. The consignment included medicines, medical equipment, and two BHISHM Cubes for emergency medical support.

The earthquakes damaged hospitals and critical infrastructure in Venezuela. On 26 June 2026, the Venezuelan Health Minister Carlos Alvarado stated that the death toll had risen to 235 and injuries had crossed 4,300, while other reports placed the death toll above 500 and injuries above 2,900.
