NTA Conducts Mock Drill Ahead of NEET Re-exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a nationwide mock drill on 20 June 2026 for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on 21 June 2026. The exercise covered nearly 23 lakh candidates across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.

NEET-UG Examination Framework

NEET-UG is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for undergraduate medical courses in India. It is used for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other allied medical programmes in institutions that accept the test score.

Security and Examination Arrangements

More than 2.5 lakh security personnel were involved in the mock drill and the re-examination deployment. Each centre has a three-layer security arrangement, and over 5,000 examination centres have CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, and GPS-enabled vehicles for confidential material movement.

Re-examination and Legal Context

The re-test was ordered after allegations of a paper leak in the original NEET-UG examination held on 3 May 2026. The matter is under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is India’s central agency for probing major criminal cases.
