Innocent passage

Innocent passage is a concept under the UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) that vessels to pass through another country’s territorial water under certain conditions. It is defines under article 19 of UNCLOS that a passage is considered innocent so long as it doesn’t affect the coastal state’s peace, good order and security. Bangladesh reiterated its request for an innocent passage through River Padma on humanitarian grounds.
