Eight Indian boxers secure Olympic berths

In the ongoing Asian qualifiers at Jordan, World bronze-medallist Simranjit Kaur defeated the second seed Namuun Monkhor of Mongolia, to secure her first Olympic place. Veteran boxers Mary Kom and Amit Panghal were also qualified for the Olympics as they advanced to semi-final bouts.
As of now, the number of Indian boxers securing Olympic berths is eight including the boxers- Satish Kumar, Pooja Rani, Vikas Krishan, Lovlina Borgohain and Ashish Kumar, who were qualified earlier.
