The Tapi River originates at Multai in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh. The Narmada River starts from Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. The Godavari River originates from Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra. Wainganga River begins in the Satpura range in Madhya Pradesh. 

Notes:
Madhya Pradesh’s population declined between 1911 and 1921 due to epidemics, famine, and poor healthcare, causing negative growth. This decade marked a rare decrease in its demographic history by about 3.42 lakh.

Notes:
The Bhil tribe predominantly inhabits western Madhya Pradesh districts like Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam, Khargone, and Khandwa. Other regions such as eastern Madhya Pradesh and Bundelkhand have different tribal groups. The western region forms the core Bhil belt, making it the primary concentration zone for the tribe.

Notes:
Matki dance is referred to as Aada-Khada and Rajwadi in parts of Madhya Pradesh. These names represent regional variations within the Malwa area. Rajwadi is associated with traditional royal performances. The dance maintains its core characteristics despite the different names used locally.

Notes:
Rai dance is a traditional folk dance from Madhya Pradesh. The female dancer in Rai dance is locally called Bedni. Bedni performers wear an Aathkali ghaghra and gotedar phooltaki odhni. The term Bedni is specific to this dance form. This name distinguishes female Rai dancers culturally and regionally.

Notes:
The 7th-century Buddhist Vihara with paintings is located in Dhar district. Dhar was an important religious and learning center during the early medieval period. Raisen district is known for the Bhimbetka rock shelters. Sidhi district has the Mara caves. Khandwa district is famous for the Omkareshwar temple.

Notes:
Nagaji Fair is held in Porsa village of Morena district in November–December. Nagaji was a saint during Emperor Akbar’s era. The fair originally featured monkey trading. Traders from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh attend the event. Today, livestock like cows and buffaloes are commonly traded at this fair.

Notes:
Article 244(1) provides for administration of Scheduled Areas and tribal welfare, under which tribal advisory councils like Madhya Pradesh’s are constituted. Madhya Pradesh Tribal Advisory Council advises on tribal interests and Scheduled Areas administration. It ensures constitutional protection for Scheduled Tribes in the state. 

Notes:
The “Khel Gram” sports village is being developed on 172 acres in Satgarhi, near Bhopal. The project involves an investment of about 200 crore rupees. Facilities include cricket stadiums, indoor halls, tennis courts, football and hockey fields, and swimming pools. Indore, Gwalior, and Rewa do not have this integrated sports village.

Notes:
The Khosla Committee was established by the Central Government in 1964 to assess maximum utilisation of Narmada river waters. It influenced early multipurpose project planning in the Narmada basin and initiated coordinated inter-state and central efforts for water resource management.
