The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Amazon have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the movement of cargo and transportation of customer shipments and products through inland waterways, specifically utilizing the Ganga River (National Waterway 1). This collaborative effort aims to leverage the efficiency and sustainability of water transport to enhance logistics, reduce environmental impacts, and foster economic growth.

Over the past few months, both governmental and non-governmental entities in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Punjab have introduced mosquitofish into regional water sources as a measure to tackle the mosquito-related issues reported by the locals.
In Visakhapatnam, officials are planning to release an additional six lakh mosquitofish, building on the earlier release of around 20 lakh a few months ago.

An official announcement from Tel Aviv informed that the move is in sync with Israel’s attempts to support a global war on terror. Israel was not being requested by the government of India to do so.

During its 63rd council meeting, the International Sugar Organisation (ISO), based in London, declared India as the Chair of the organization for the year 2024.
The primary focus will be on uniting member nations to embrace more sustainable practices in sugarcane cultivation, sugar and ethanol production, and optimizing the utilization of by-products.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Saffron of the mountainous Kishtwar district, which is cultivated and harvested in the higher reaches, has been given the Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the Geographical Indications Registry.
The spice is grown in some parts of the Kishtwar region of Jammu, along with parts of Kashmir. The most expensive harvest of saffron, popularly known as Kumkum, is also a key cash crop in Kishtwar. Kishtwar’s saffron production area is called locally as Mandal.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Arsene Wenger, chief of global football development at FIFA.
A total of 50 talented football players, including 15 from Odisha, in the Under-14 category will be selected for the academy from across the country. The academy will be headed by a FIFA-appointed coach along with various coaches and staff from AIFF and the Odisha government.
