The UK government has proposed a plan to add India to the extended list of ‘safe states’, a move that would fast-track the return of illegal Indian migrants and effectively eliminate their opportunity to seek asylum in the UK.
This proposal to include India, along with Georgia, was presented in a draft legislation introduced in the House of Commons.

The share of India’s foreign currency assets deployed in overseas securities rose to 81.43 per cent by September from 80.76 per cent in March, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Report on Management of Foreign Exchange Reserves.
The share of money kept in deposits with other central banks and the Bank for International Settlement (BIS) declined to 13.49 per cent at the end of September from 14.82 per cent at the end of March 2023.

Researchers in China have produced an infant ‘chimeric’ monkey by injecting a monkey embryo with stem cells from a genetically distinct donor embryo.
The resulting animal is the first live-born chimeric primate to have a high proportion of cells originating from donor stem cells. This could ultimately benefit medical research and the conservation of endangered species.

Ayodhya made a world record when about 22.23 lakh earthen lamps were lit during Deepotsav celebrations on the eve of Diwali.
In 2022, more than 17 lakh diyas were lit across the ghats of Ram ki Pairi.  The city, which is located on the bank of the Saryu River, broke its own world record.

DP World is the leading container terminal and supply chain operator of Australia. A significant cybersecurity event has compelled DP World Australia, the operator of ports in multiple states, to halt its operations for several days.
DP World Australia, responsible for overseeing nearly half of the country’s imports and exports, was forced to suspend operations for three days.

‘Towards Eliminating Plastic Pollution by 2040: A Policy Scenario Analysis’ was released recently by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) ahead of the third session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (INC3).
In 2022, a recent interim report reveals that approximately 21 million metric tonnes (MT) of plastic entered the global environment.

PVTG Development Mission will be launched by PM Modi on the occasion of ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’. The Rs 24,000 crore scheme aims to promote the holistic development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG).
The launch of Pradhan Mantri PVTG Development Mission was announced in the budget to improve socio-economic conditions of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. The Mission will be implemented through convergence of 11 interventions of nine Ministries. There are 75 PVTGs in 18 States and UTs with a population of around 28 lakhs.

Mount Etna in Italy, renowned as one of the world’s most active volcanoes, had raised public concerns due to its eruption the previous year.
This volcanic activity has a long history, with recorded eruptions dating back to 1500 B.C., totaling over 200 eruptions since then.
