Notes:
The 11th edition of the Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity (LMAAGS) 2021 was released recently.
The award is presented from Population First and is supported by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Norwegian Embassy. The recent edition recognised gender sensitive coverage by 98 winners across 10 languages.

Notes:
Ministry of Panchayat Raj, in association with National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Hyderabad and other partners organised one day National Consultative Workshop on Citizen Charter and Delivery of Services by Panchayats.
Participants from 16 States signed the ‘Mysuru Declaration Service Delivery by Panchayats’ and resolved to launch the Common Minimum Service delivery by Panchayats across the country from April 1, 2022.

The Indian Army launched Operation Snow Leopard after China failed to move back and restore status quo ante in eastern Ladakh.
Col Santosh Babu was awarded Mahavir Chakra posthumously for resisting Chinese Army attack in Galwan valley in Ladakh sector during Operation Snow Leopard. Colonel Babu was the Commanding Officer of 16 Bihar regiment, which was deployed in Galwan Valley for the Operation.

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind addressed the birth centenary celebrations of Chaudhary Harmohan Singh Yadav in Kanpur.
In 1984, he set an example of communal harmony when he saved a large number of lives during the anti-Sikh riots following the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In the year 1991, he received Shaurya Chakra for his gallantry and fearlessness.  He was an educationist, social worker, independence activist and a politician.

Indian Railways launched Bharat Gaurav trains that will be operated by private players and run on theme-based circuits.
According to the Bharat Gaurav policy, any operator or service provider, or virtually anyone, can lease trains from Indian Railways to run on a theme-based circuit as a special tourism package. The operator has the freedom to decide the route, the halts, the services provided, and, most importantly, the tariff.

The National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) is set to begin its lending operations with about 190-200 big infrastructure projects in the railways, roads and energy sector.
This was announced by its newly appointed Chairman K.V. Kamath. The institution was set up with an aim to catalyse investment in the infrastructure sector in the country, which is starved of funds.

Science and Innovation Council” (SIC), is apex body to review overall bilateral scientific cooperation between India and the UK and it is held once in two years alternatively in two countries.
Union Minister of State (IC) Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh held an online meeting with the UK Science Minister. They discussed Green Energy collaboration between the two countries. The India-UK Science & Technology (S&T) collaboration has been growing close to £300-400 million.

Kaririavis mater lived in the present-day Brazil some 115 million years ago. It was living during the Cretaceous period when the supercontinent Gondwana (which included the South America, Africa, Australia, Antarctica and India) was splitting.
The fossilized remains of Kaririavis mater (an isolated right foot with some feathers) were recovered from the Crato Formation at Pedra Branca Mine, in Brazil’s Ceará recently.

A first-of-its-kind programme to promote women in the field of research and development through lateral entry was launched recently.
Named the Women’s Involvement in Science and Engineering Research (WISER), it was launched by Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) for encouraging women researchers in joint R&D projects.

Notes:
The Prichal docking module arrived at the International Space Station propelled by a modified Russian Progress propulsion compartment.
Prichal has five docking ports to accommodate multiple Russian spacecraft and provide fuel transfer capability to the Nauka module. Nauka has been named for the Russian word for “Science,”, and was launched to the space station in July.
