The Governor of Georgia, Brian P. Kemp, has announced that November 1 will be observed as ‘Kannada Language and Rajyotsava Day’.
Georgia had become the first state in the U.S. to issue such a proclamation for Kannada. Karnataka is set to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava. Georgia houses one of the biggest Indian diaspora in the U.S. Kannada is one of the longest-surviving classical languages, with a rich literature and inscriptions dating back to 450 BCE.

Recently, Scientists have confirmed a South Dakota man- Ernie LaPointe- as the great-grand son of the 19th century Native American leader Sitting Bull, by checking a sample of hair belonging to the leader.  Scientists took DNA from a tiny sample of Sitting Bull’s hair was stored in Washington DC.

The Centre’s fiscal deficit hit a four-year low of Rs 5.26 lakh crore, or 35% of the budget estimates, at the end of the first half of FY22.
At the same stage last year the fiscal deficit was Rs 9.1 lakh crore or 114.8% of budget estimates. The government managed to collect over 60% of the budgeted revenue receipts in the first six months of the fiscal, which is the highest ever H1 collection, as per the official data.

The Quality Council of India (QCI) has established a team of experts for execution of a proposed project – Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
Several small and medium enterprises have been on-boarded as volunteers for execution of a project, as per the Commerce and Industry ministry. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has initiated this project, to democratise electronic commerce, by moving it from a platform-centric model to an open-network.

Sweden is set to launch a trade promotion event named Time for India, to boost bilateral trade with India. The Swedish Ambassador in India Klas Molin announced that Sweden does not require vaccination from international travellers including those from India.
A Swedish diplomatic and economic delegation to Sweden along with the Indian embassy in Stockholm will launch a promotional campaign for Indian business.

As per the data by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 37,666 daily wage workers died by suicide in 2020, who made up the largest share of total suicides. They are followed by House-wives and persons in farming sector.
As per the report, the country reported more than 1.53 lakh suicides last year highest in the last 10 years. It also cited that an average of 31 children died by suicide every day in India in 2020. As many as 11,396 children died by suicide in 2020, at an 18 per cent rise from 2019.

Independent researchers from India have conceptualized and developed an online dashboard named “Climate Equity Monitor” on Global climate policy.
The Climate Equity Monitor dashboard provides an online dashboard for assessing equity in climate action, inequalities in emissions, energy consumption across the world, and climate policies of several countries. It aims to monitor the performance of Annex-I Parties under the UNFCCC (developed countries).

The Odisha government announced full exemption of motor vehicles taxes and registration fees on electric vehicles (EVs) in the state.
The exemption, which was granted under the Odisha Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, is applicable till 2025. The incentives for the buyers, manufacturers, batteries and charging stations of electric vehicles were also extended under the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy.

India and Bhutan will have seven additional entry and exit points for trade as part of measures to increase trade connectivity.
These include Nagarkata Land Customs Station, Agartala Land Customs Station, Pandu port (Guwahati Steamerghat), Jogighopa port, Asian Highway 48 connecting Torsha Tea Garden in India and Ahllay in Bhutan among others. Trade between India and Bhutan rose from USD 484 million in 2014-15 to USD 1,083 million in 2020-21.

India is set to host the Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan on November 10 which will be attended by seven countries. It will be chaired by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
The dialogue will be held at the level of National Security Advisers/Secretaries of Security Councils. As per recent media reports, both China and Pakistan are not attending the meeting. Seven countries -Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan- confirmed participation.
