Notes:
The United Nations General Assembly has declared the year 2021 as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as the lead agency to celebrate this year, along with other relevant organizations.
This year seeks to spread awareness on the role played by fruits and vegetables in human nutrition, and in food security.

Pune International Centre (PIC) has convened the 6th ‘Pune Dialogue on National Security (PDNS) 2021’. It is a two-day virtual conference, with the theme of ‘National Security Preparedness in the Age of Disasters and Pandemics’.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval delivered the inaugural address at conference, which will have a keynote address by Dr Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist of the WHO.

Notes:
An integrated Single Window Filming mechanism has been created by the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The objective of the scheme is to make the permission for filming across Railways premises easier and more efficient. Under the mechanism, filmmakers can submit online applications for filming at various railway locations under jurisdiction of any zonal railways in a centralized way.

Ganges River Dolphins is the National Aquatic Animal of India and is listed as ‘Endangered’ under IUCN Red List.
The Union Jal Shakti Ministry has released a guide aimed at the safe rescue of stranded Ganges River Dolphins in India. The guide has been developed by Turtle Survival Alliance and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department of the Government of UP.

Notes:
India and Bhutan will have seven additional entry and exit points for trade as part of measures to increase trade connectivity.
These include Nagarkata Land Customs Station, Agartala Land Customs Station, Pandu port (Guwahati Steamerghat), Jogighopa port, Asian Highway 48 connecting Torsha Tea Garden in India and Ahllay in Bhutan among others. Trade between India and Bhutan rose from USD 484 million in 2014-15 to USD 1,083 million in 2020-21.

Tamil Nadu has set up first ever Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company, to professionally manage three critical natural conservation missions
The Company will manage the Tamil Nadu Climate Change, Tamil Nadu Green and Tamil Nadu Wetlands missions. The SPV’s authorised capital will be ₹5 crore and the State Environment Secretary will be the company’s chairperson and MD.

The Ministry of Law and Justice placed the Draft Mediation Bill, 2021 in public domain, seeking feedback and suggestions from all stakeholders.
The Bill proposes to bring about a standalone law on Mediation on issues of domestic and international mediation. India is a signatory to the Singapore Convention on Mediation. The Bill also seeks to use the terms ‘conciliation’ and ‘mediation’ interchangeably.

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi recently laid foundation stones for multiple projects worth over Rs. 180 crore. He dedicated to the Nation various development projects in Kedarnath including Garud Chatti Bridge on river Mandakini.
He inaugurated Shri Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and unveiled the statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya.

Sankalp Gupta from Nagpur, who is 18 years old has become the 71st Grandmaster of India. He achieved this feat after completing third and final norm at the GM Ask 3 round-robin event in Arandjelovac.
Three required GM norms were acquired by Sankalp Gupta in a record time of 24 days, by playing three back-to-back tournaments.

World Economic Forum released a research report titled “Mission 2070: A Green New Deal for a Net Zero India”, in collaboration with Kearney and Observer Research Foundation.
In the latest research report, the World Economic Forum has highlighted that a Green New Deal for India could bring a $15 trillion economic opportunity by 2070. It also stated that India’s transition to net zero economy can create more than 50 million net new jobs.
