Government e-Marketplace [GeM] signed a MoU with Self Employed Women’s Association [SEWA] for mobilization and capacity-building of women-led micro and small enterprises, women entrepreneurs, SHGs among others as sellers and service providers in public procurement.
GeM will train SEWA members to assist the above-said with GeM processes related to seller registration and on-boarding on the platform, acceptance of orders, participation in bids floated by buyers, fulfilment of orders and invoice generation to receive payments.

Hockey Association of Odisha became the champion of the 12th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship 2022.
The team won after a 2-0 victory over Hockey Karnataka. Hockey Jharkhand defeated Hockey Haryana 3-2 in the third-fourth place match. The tournament was held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Notes:
A new venomous green snake has been recorded simultaneously in Meghalaya as well as Mizoram. It was first found near the Meghalaya capital of Shillong, in October 2020.
The new species was relatively common in Meghalaya, Mizoram and even in Guwahati. But it used to be referred to as either the Pope’s Pit Viper or Gumprecht’s Green Pit Viper so far.

The founder and chief executive officer of financial technology company Paytm, has been reappointed as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of One 97 Communications, which operates under Paytm brand.
Infosys has re-appointed Salil Parekh as the Managing director and CEO of the company for five years. Since 2018, Parekh has been leading Infosys, the country’s second- largest IT services firm.

The World Economic Forum (WEF), during its Davos meeting has announced that it is building a “Global Collaboration Village” as the virtual future of public-private cooperation.
The initiative is being launched in collaboration with Accenture and Microsoft. WEF launched the initiative for Defining and Building the Metaverse and it will bring together key global stakeholders to address critical global issues.

In Sri Lanka, the proposed 21st amendment to the Constitution, aimed at curbing the unfettered powers of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was presented before the Cabinet.
Sri Lanka’s new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the amendment will be distributed among party leaders for their observations, following which it will be sent to the Cabinet for final approval. After massive victory in the general elections in 2020, the Rajapaksa family amended the Constitution to restore presidential powers.

A state-of-the-art supercomputer Param Porul was inaugurated at NIT Tiruchirappalli on 25 May 2022 in a joint initiative by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This newly inaugurated supercomputing facility has been set up under Phase 2 of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).

On May 28, 2022 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nano Urea (Liquid) Plant manufactured at IFFCO, Kalol (Gujarat). He also addressed the leaders of various cooperative institutions on ‘Sahakar Se Prosperity’ at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The Nano Urea (Liquid) Plant, approximately Rs.175 crore, will provide the means to help farmers increase productivity and increase their income. The plant will produce around 1.5 lakh bottles of 500 ml capacity per day.

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard seized two Greek oil tankers in the Persian Gulf on May 27, 2022. Athens assisted the US in seizing an Iranian oil tanker over alleged sanctions violations in the Mediterranean Sea.
