The Delhi Cabinet had passed an ambitious Delhi Startup Policy which aims to turn the capital into an international startup hub.
The vision is to enable Delhi to emerge as a “Global Innovation Hub and the most preferred destination for Startups by 2030”. The government intends to encourage, facilitate and support 15,000 startups by 2030. A Startup Policy Monitoring Committee will be formed to oversee the Policy. It will be headed by the Finance Minister of the Delhi Government.

A person in the United Kingdom (UK) has been diagnosed with the rare viral infection Monkeypox. The patient recently came back from Nigeria and has been receiving treatment at the hospital.
Monkeypox occurs predominately in central and west Africa. Most of its infections last till two to four weeks and result in swelling of the lymph nodes as well as causes rashes on the body.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently gave security clearance to the new promoters of Jet Airways to resume commercial operations in the country.
The Jalan-Kalrock consortium is currently the promoter of Jet Airways, which was owned and run by Naresh Goyal for over 20 years before it became bankrupt.

Markets Regulator- Securities and Exchange Board of India has recently formed an advisory committee for advising on Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) related matters related to the securities markets.
The committee will be chaired by Navneet Munot, the chief executive officer of HDFC Asset Management Company.

Tamil Nadu has become the first state in the country to offer breakfast in government schools, along with the mid-day meal.
Chief Minister MK Stalin announced the breakfast scheme for students studying in Classes 1 to 5 in the state. The special nutritional scheme is based on a public health study by the government on the malnourished children in the state. Tamil Nadu was also a pioneer of the midday meal scheme.

The winners of Pulitzer Prize 2022 in journalism, books, drama and music were announced recently and India has received four awards.
Ace photographer Danish Siddiqui was posthumously awarded a Pulitzer in the category of Feature Photography. Other Indian winners are Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, and Amit Dave. All the four are awarded the prestigious prize for their images of the impact of Covid on India.

India celebrates National Technology Day on May 11 as it was on the same day in 1998 the country successfully conducted the famous Pokhran nuclear tests in the Pokhran region of Rajasthan.
India’s then prime minister, Atal Vihari Bajpai led the mission which was codenamed Operation Shakti to make India an independent nuclear power.  APJ Abdul Kalam supervised the mission as the chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

South Korea’s new President Yoon Suk-yeol has recently won the Presidential Elections by the narrowest margin ever.
He was a Prosecutor and played a significant role in convicting former president Park Geun-hye for abuse of power. He gained public attention after his investigations into some of the country’s high-profile corruption scandals.

Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh emerged champion in the 1st Chessable Sunway Formentera Open 2022 chess tournament.
It was a hat-trick of titles for him as previously won the La Roda tournament and the Menorca Open in recent weeks. The 15-year old Gukesh remained unbeaten through the nine rounds. With this victory, he moved up to no.64 in the world rankings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually addressed ‘Utkarsh Samaroh’ event held at Bharuch in Gujarat. It was organized to mark the celebration of 100 percent saturation of four key schemes of the state government in the district.
Over 12000 beneficiaries were identified across the four schemes, which include Ganga Swaroopa Aarthik Sahay Yojana, Indira Gandhi Vrudh Sahay Yojana, Niradhar Vrudh Aarthik Sahay Yojana and Rashtriya Kutumb Sahay Yojana.
