Indian Bank launched the digital transformation initiative – World of Advance Virtual Experience ‘WAVE’.
The bank has recently launched its first digital product “Pre-Approved Personal Loan (PAPL)” that aims to provide customers with instant loan disbursements, serviced through digital channels only. PAPL loan product can be availed through mobile application, website and internet banking facility.

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has launched a variety of millet products for all age groups at affordable prices, at the AAHAR food fair in New Delhi.
As per the Commerce and Industry Ministry, all the millet products launched by APEDA are gluten-free, 100 percent natural and patented. The 36th edition of AAHAR was jointly organized by APEDA and the India Trade Promotion Organization.

The International Dark Sky Week is an annual event hosted by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). This year, astronomers and sky enthusiasts marked the 2022 International Dark Sky Week from April 22-30.
Hundreds of events were conducted across the globe where participants learn astrophotography, take night walks, and observe night sky without light pollution and learn how it negatively impacts our ecosystem.

The Maharashtra Department of Prisons has launched first kind of credit scheme for prisoners in jails across the state.
The loan scheme titled Jivhala is offered by the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank for inmates who are undergoing a prison sentence of more than three years. The pilot was introduced at Yerawada Central Jail in Pune, and will be extended to nearly 60 prisons. Inmates can use the loans for education of their children, medical treatment of family members, legal fees, or other expenses.

Due to food poisoning, a 16-year-old died and 40 others were hospitalised in Kerala. As per the district medical officer, the severe food poisoning was caused by a bacterium called ‘Shigella’.
This pathogen can cause intestinal infection which is contagious and can spread through contaminated food or water. The primary symptoms for the infection is diarrhoea and can be accompanied by stomach pain, fever, vomiting.

The Indian Coast Guard commissioned its second Air Squadron ‘845 Squadron (CG)’ at the Coast Guard Air Enclave at Nedumbassery in Kochi.
The new Air Squadron is equipped with the indigenously developed Advanced Mark III (ALH Mark III) helicopters. As of now, four helicopters have been positioned in Kochi to cover the coast of Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

The Central government recently published the Civil Registration System (CRS) report 2020 based on birth and death reports.
According to CRS, death registration has increased by 4.75 lakh in the year 2020 as compared to 2019. Bihar saw the maximum increase in the death rate with 18.3 per cent followed by Maharashtra (16.6 per cent). The country registered a 73.7 per cent birth rate.

The Punjab government recently announced Rs 1,500 incentive per acre for farmers opting for Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR).
Last year, 18% of the total rice area in the state was under DSR while the government target was 10 lakh hectares. According to the studies by Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), DSR technique can help save 15% to 20% water and sometimes to 23%. It can also solve labour shortage problem as paddy seeds are sown directly with machine, without paddy nursery and transplantation.

The Delimitation Commission, which redrew the electoral map of Jammu and Kashmir, was headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, a retired judge of the Supreme Court. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and state election commissioner K K Sharma are its ex-officio members.
The Delimitation Commission released its final report, with 47 seats assigned for Kashmir and 43 for Jammu. There will be five parliamentary constituencies, each with an equal number of 18 Assembly seats while 9 seats were reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST).  Additional seats in the assembly for Kashmiri migrants and displaced persons from Pakistan occupied Kashmir were recommended.
