The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has joined the Central Banks and Supervisors Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS).
NGFS is a group of central banks and supervisors who will share best practices about climate risk management in financial sector. It was launched at the Paris One Planet Summit in the year 2017. It also mobilises finance for maintaining a sustainable economy.

Notes:
The Vice President of India is set to launch the first social media super-application of the country named ‘Elyments’. More than 1000 IT professionals have created the application.
The application, that will be available in more than 8 Indian languages, aims to combine the features of popular social media applications and present it on a single unified app. It also has features such as free audio and video calls and chats.

The Government of Maharashtra’s industrial infrastructure development agency, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has recently signed a MoU with UK India Business Council.
The agreement aims to promote sustainable business relations between UK and India. This will help the state to develop its business environment and promote its partnership with the British business.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has deployed 120 Mobile Medical Vans named ‘Dhanvantri Rath’ across the city.
It is a mobile van that provides non-COVID essential healthcare services to every household of the corporation. Every van has an AYUSH Doctor, a paramedic and nursing staff and a local Medical Officer from the Corporation’s Urban Health Centre. It conducts regular out-patient consultations.

New York headquartered United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has recently released a report titled “Community based programme for children below 5 years of age with severe acute malnutrition in India—Progress so far and lessons learned 2020”.
The report considered the malnutrition programmes being implemented in 12 states. As per UNICEF, the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted care for malnourished children. This may increase the burden and availability of food and livelihood in the country.

Ace racing driver of Finland Valtteri Bottas has recently won the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix at Spielberg.
Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton could finish only in the fourth position, after he suffered a penalty. Charles Leclerc bagged the second place for Ferrari and 20-year-old racer Lando Norris won third position for McLaren.

A 23-year old chess player from Tamil Nadu, G. Akash has recently become the 66th Grandmaster of India.
Akash’s Grand Master title was confirmed at the second council meet of International Chess Federation (FIDE) of the year 2020. The Chennai-based player won the National title in the year 2012. His present FIDE rating is 2495.

The Union Cabinet has granted its approval for developing Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (AHRCs) for urban migrants and poor as a sub-scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U).
Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has initiated an Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHCs) sub scheme in May 2020. Nearly three lakh beneficiaries will be covered initially under the ARHC scheme.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has launched Nasscom Launchpad in New Jersey.
This platform seeks to promote cross border trade between India and the US and technology-based foreign direct investment (FDI) between the two regions. Member companies of NASSCOM will get hands-on training, assistance in site selection, government regulations and tax planning etc.

The Indian Space Research and Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch Brazil’s Amazonia -1 satellite onboard PSLV.
This satellite has been designed, assembled and tested in Brazil and it will be the first Earth Observation satellite. The launch of the PSLV is scheduled to be held next month while the date is to be released by ISRO soon.
