As per the latest issue of a research newsletter on life forms- ‘Bionotes’, a Himalayan butterfly named ‘Golden Birdwing’ is declared the largest butterfly of India.
Until now, another butterfly named the Southern Birdwing holds the record of the country’s largest butterfly for 88 years, after a British military officer and butterfly researcher recorded it in 1932. The female Golden Birdwing has a wingspan of 194 mm, larger than that of the Southern Birdwing.

The Haryana cabinet has approved the drafting of an ordinance to provide 75% reservation in private sector jobs.
As per the draft of the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Ordinance, 2020, 75% of the new employment would be provided to eligible candidates of state domicile. Another condition mentioned is the jobs would be of those having less than Rs 50,000 per month.

Notes:
As per the recent research report of National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Rajasthan has the highest count of inbred tigers in the country.
Inbreeding refers to the process of producing offspring from breeding of individuals or genetically related organisms. Tigers have dispersed from the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve to Sarika Tiger Reserve in Alwar and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota, and NCBS explained that these tigers are related.

The President of World Bank, David Malpass has recently attended a G20 debt conference. He urged G-20 countries to freeze debt payment of poorest countries in 2021.
The World Bank head opined that this freezing of official bilateral debt payments by the world’s poorest countries will permanently reduce the debt load for the severely indebted countries. He also said that this procedure would be more helpful instead of delaying the debt payment.

Major e-commerce marketplace Flipkart has recently signed an MoU with Karnataka MSME and Mines department to promote the states arts, crafts and handloom sectors, under the Flipkart Samarth programme
Under the partnership, local artisans and craftsmen of Karnataka are given a digital platform to exhibit their products in the e-commerce platform. They are given a broad market base by this partnership.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has recently launched a report on “Cancer preparedness in Asia-Pacific: Progress towards universal cancer control”.
As per the report, India has been ranked eighth for cancer preparedness among 10 Asia-Pacific countries including Australia, China, Japan among others. Australia tops the Asia-Pacific region, followed by South Korea and Malaysia.

The Kuaizhou-11 carrier rocket, that was launched by China, has recently suffered a failure during its maiden flight.
Kuaizhou means ‘fast ship’ in Chinese. It is a low-cost solid-fuelled carrier rocket, that was designed to launch low-Earth orbit satellites. A malfunction occurred during the flight though the exact reason for the failure is not yet known.

India has become the second largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) for the United Kingdom in 2019.
As per the UK government figures recently released, India is up from its third position in 2018 and it is second only to the United States. India has invested in 120 projects and created above 5000 new jobs in the UK. India is followed by Germany, France and China.

The tropical Storm Fay has created heavy rains and floods and has made landfall in New Jersey, before it weakened and moved over the region.
As per the U.S. National Hurricane Center, the storm was moving north at 27 kph and producing top sustained winds of 64 kph. The storm created landfall along the coast of New Jersey. Several beaches in the place were closed and flash flooding is also expected.

Central Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Power NTPC Ltd has won the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019, under Outstanding Accomplishment in Corporate Excellence Category.
The enterprise also received Commendation for Significant Achievement in category of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The company runs a CSR program called GEM (Girl Empowerment Mission), which is a residential program for school going girls, who are residing near the company’s power stations.
