Feria Internacional del Turismo or FITUR, the international tourism trade fair was hosted by Spain in Madrid.
India participated in an international tourism trade fair to help fast-track the recovery of the country’s inbound tourism to the pre-pandemic levels. It is one of the world’s largest international travel exhibitions.

India participated in the First Movers Coalition (FMC) Leadership Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
The Meeting discussed on the world need for clean energy technologies to confront climate crisis globally. India had proposed for the Startup 20 (S-20) agenda as the G20 President. The Europe for Indian Business corridor was also organised.

After the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) conducted recently, it was found that there is a drop in the number of birds in various parts of Kerala.
The Thrissur-Ponnani kole fields is a Ramsar site known for the number and diversity of birds recorded the lowest count of waterbirds in three decades here. Kole wetlands have been visited by hundreds of migratory birds every year.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) manages the National Pension System (NPS) in India.
The Pension regulator PFRDA has now allowed intermediaries in the pension ecosystem to adopt Video Based Customer Identification Process (VCIP).

G20’s first Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group Meeting is set to be held in Bengaluru.
It will focus on the promotion of the blue economy along with coastal sustainability, restoration of degraded lands and ecosystems, enhancement of biodiversity and strengthening of a circular economy.  The delegates are scheduled to visit the Kalkere Arboretum and Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru.

Estonia is a country in Northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland. Russia and Estonia have expelled the ambassadors from each other’s countries in a tit-for-tat move.
Estonia’s diplomatic representation will be downgraded to a charge d’affaires that heads the European Union country’s mission in Moscow.

The biennial Tri-Services Amphibious Exercise, AMPHEX 2023 was conducted at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
The exercise witnessed the participation of a amphibious ships from the Indian Navy, 900 troops which included Special Forces, Artillery and Armoured vehicles of Indian Army and Jaguar fighters and C 130 aircraft from the Indian Air Force.

After China, India will become the second country in the world to start the ‘trade-plus-one’ (T+1) settlement cycle in top listed securities.
It aims to bring operational efficiency, faster fund remittances, share delivery, and ease for stock market participants. Until 2001, stock markets had a weekly settlement system. The markets then moved to a rolling settlement system of T+3, and then to T+2 in 2003.

The first phase of the Caste-Based Survey (CBS) is completed in Bihar. The caste-based survey is being carried out in two stages.
The first phase was a household counting exercise, which has now been completed. The form for its next phase where information on people’s caste and socio-economic status will be collected, is being finalised.

Canada has appointed its first special representative on combatting Islamophobia as the government seeks to tackle hatred after a series of attacks targeting members of Muslim communities in the country in recent years.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that human rights advocate Amira Elghawaby would hold the post, to offer advice on government policies, legislation and other programmes.
