Chinese-operated Boeing 737 MAX took off from Guangzhou, and this is the first flight by a domestic airline since March 2019.
China grounded the model after two deadly accidents involving the model in 2018 and 2019. The aircraft was cleared to fly again in the United States, followed by other countries, after modifications were made to the flight control software and pilot training.

Notes:
FIFA has opened a disciplinary case against Argentine Football Association for alleged offensive player misconduct and violations of fair play at World Cup final.
FIFA cited its media and marketing regulations for prosecuting the case, which appears to relate to a celebration by players running through the interview zone after the game. Argentina beat France in a penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw in Qatar.

The “Varuna” bilateral naval exercise between India and France is being conducted on the Western Seaboard.
The exercise began in 1993 and was given its name in 2001.  This 21st edition of the exercise will include advanced air defence exercises and other maritime operations. The exercise has been regarded as a symbol of the strategic relationship between the countries.

The Women Safety Wing of Telangana Police recently launched the ‘Cyber Congress initiative’. It aims to train, empower and equip the young generation the knowledge and skills required to protect themselves and their communities from cyber crimes.
The students are trained to become ‘cyber ambassadors’ in the region.

Saunamara, a small village in Odisha, is also known as ‘Hockey Village’ of India. It is located at 100km from Birsa Munda Stadium, the world’s largest all-seater hockey-specific venue in Rourkela.
The village has given more than 60 national team players, both male and female. It has produced several notable hockey players such as Dilip Tirkey, Amit Rohidas, and Subhadra Pradhan. As the village has a lack of proper hockey grounds, an artificial turf is being prepared by next month.

India defeated Sri Lanka by the largest ever margin of 317 runs in the last ODI and clinched the series by 3-0.
Indian team broke the record for largest victory (by runs) in ODIs at the final match of the series in Thiruvananthapuram. India broke New Zealand’s record of 290 runs. India posted a score of 390 in fifty overs and the Sri Lanka run could only reach 73.

The National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) has notified India’s first national assessment regulator, PARAKH.
It will work on setting norms, standards and guidelines for student assessment and evaluation for all recognised school boards in the country. The Educational Survey Division of NCERT, New Delhi, will function as PARAKH in the initial phase and it will be extended across the country.

Scientists from the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG),  have reported the first evidence of the presence of solitary waves or distinct electric field fluctuations in the Martian magnetosphere.
The study of these waves is crucial as they directly control particle energization, plasma loss, transport, etc., through wave-particle interactions. Despite several missions to Mars, the presence of solitary waves in the Martian magnetosphere has never been reported earlier.

The India Open which is officially known as Yonex- Sunrise India Open 2023 is set to start in New Delhi.
The tournament is being held in India since 2008, however this will be the first time when India Open will be held in the super 750 status category. The tournament will see top players from 29 countries, and a total of 97 players will compete in various categories.

Notes:
Capital markets regulator SEBI proposed to introduce a blocking of funds facility for trading in secondary markets.
This move is aimed at safeguarding investors’ money from misuse and default by stock brokers. This is similar to Application Supported by Blocked Amount (ASBA)-like facility already available for the primary market. This move eliminates the need to transfer funds to stock broker.
