National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, has awarded 425 million dollars to Boeing Company for the agency’s sustainable flight demonstrator project.
Under the project, Boeing will work with NASA to build, test, and fly a full-scale demonstrator aircraft and validate technologies aimed at lowering emissions. NASA will invest 425 million dollars, while Boeing and its partners will contribute the remainder of the agreement funding.

The India-Bangladesh Friendship pipeline (IBFPL) will start supplying diesel to Bangladesh on an experimental basis for June this year.
About 131.5 kilometre long pipeline has been constructed for importing diesel from India. Out of this, 126.5 kilometre pipeline is in Bangladesh and 5 kilometre line is in India. The international pipeline will carry diesel from the Siliguri based marketing terminal of the Numaligarh Refinery Limited to Parbatipur depot of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed 71,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits in different government departments and organisations.
The event was part of the ‘Rozgar Mela’ drive which was announced by him last year to give jobs to 10 lakh people. The new recruits will join various positions under the central government like junior engineers, loco pilots, technicians among others.

As per the estimates from the World Population Review, an independent organisation focused on census and demographics. India may have already surpassed China as the world’s most-populous nation.
India’s population stood at 1.417 billion as of end 2022, 5 million more than the 1.412 billion reported by China. China announced the first decline in population numbers since the 1960s.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in New Delhi as he will be the chief guest at the 74th Republic Day parade of India.
This is the first time the President of Egypt has been invited as the chief guest on Republic Day. India and Egypt are celebrating 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations this year. India has also invited Egypt as a ‘guest country’ during its G20 Presidency.

After the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) conducted recently, it was found that there is a drop in the number of birds in various parts of Kerala.
The Thrissur-Ponnani kole fields is a Ramsar site known for the number and diversity of birds recorded the lowest count of waterbirds in three decades here. Kole wetlands have been visited by hundreds of migratory birds every year.

A Russian warship armed with hypersonic cruise weapons will take part in exercises with the Chinese and South African navies.
This is the first official mention of the participation by the Russian frigate Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov. The frigate is armed with Zircon missiles, which fly at nine times the speed of sound.

The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Centre has nominated the maidams of Ahom Kingdom in Charaideo to seek a UNESCO World Heritage Site tag for the historic site.
The Charaideo Maidams are the representation of the late medieval mound burial tradition of the Tai Ahom community in Assam. The Maidams are managed by the Archaeological Survey of India and the State Department of Archaeology.

India has produced a record over 5,000 Lakh Metric Tons (LMT) of sugarcane in the sugar season 2021-22.
During the sugar season between October and September 2021-22, India has emerged as the world’s largest producer and consumer of sugar. It has also become the world’s second-largest exporter of sugar after Brazil.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik released the publication titled ‘Hockey & India — A Golden Legacy’ book by Sportstar on Indian hockey.
With 192 pages of old and new pictures from 1928 to the present, the book is a collector’s edition for public in general and fans of Indian sports in particular.
