The United States manufactures and supplies ‘MH-60R Multi-Role Helicopters’ for Indian Navy. The first batch of three MH-60R Helicopters contracted by the Navy are scheduled to arrive in India by mid-July.
This will be the first major induction of helicopters by the Indian Navy after decades for deployment on ships.

A sport called ‘Pickle ball’ has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. It is a combination of elements taken from tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
The first permanent pickleball court was constructed in 1967. All India Pickleball Association said that the sport has reached over 16 states in India and has around 3,000 registered players. It is played with a perforated plastic ball and wooden paddles that are twice the size of ping-pong paddles.

‘Nord Stream 2’ is a 1,230-kilometer-long natural gas pipeline constructed under the Baltic Sea. It directly links Russian gas to Europe via Germany.
Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz has suspended the certification of the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline, amidst Russia’s recognition of two separatist regions in Ukraine.

India’s indigenously built fighter aircraft, Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, is set to take part in the multi-nation air exercise ‘Ex Cobra Warrior 22’ at Waddington, United Kingdom from March 6-27.
Five Tejas aircraft are scheduled to fly to the UK. The LCA Tejas was indigenously-designed by the Aircraft Development Agency (ADA) of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The Administrative Council (AC) under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approved the policy on promotion of foreign investment in the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The New Policy aims to facilitate foreign investments higher than Rs 100 crore with a minimum of 51 per cent foreign stakes.

The Centre has approved continuation of the Immigration Visa Foreigners Registration Tracking (IVFRT) Scheme for a period of five years from 2021 to 2026.
The scheme was approved with an outlay of Rs 1,364.88 crore. The average visa processing time, which was earlier at 15-30 days, has been reduced to 72 hours, in e-visas.

Anoop Kumar Mendiratta became the first Union Law Secretary to be appointed as a High Court judge.
In 2019, Anoop Kumar Mendiratta became the first serving judge to be appointed Union Law Secretary. In July 2021, Delhi High Court made 8 recommendations for judges. In February 2022 the Supreme Court collegium recommended 6 from that list. Ministry of Law and Justice released a notification appointing four judges of the High Court.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBAGR) has launched a study of ‘Kombai’ dogs.
The study of the breed has been launched under a project to document the indigenous dog breeds. ICAR has already registered the ‘Rajapalayam and Chippiparai’ dogs of Tamil Nadu and the ‘Mudhol Hound’ of Karnataka.

1000 Suborno Jayanti Scholarships for students and officials of Bangladesh were announced during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bangladesh in 2021.
It aims to attract brightest talents and provide opportunity to promote synergies between India and Bangladesh under India’s New Education Policy. The High Commission of India in Dhaka formally launched the Suborno Jayanti Scholarship website.
