UK’s Chester zoo witnessed the birth of an aardvark calf, for the first time in 90 years. It is named after the house elf from Harry Potter series, Dobby.
Aardvarks are native to sub-Saharan Africa and its name means ‘Earth pig’ in the language of Afrikaans. There are only 66 aardvarks in zoos across Europe. The nocturnal animals use their long noses and sense of smell to sniff out ants and termites.

Lachit Borphukan was a Military Commander and Borphukan in the Ahom kingdom, located in present-day Assam. He was known for his leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat against the Mughals.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced building a Lachit Samadhi, to mark the 400th birth anniversary celebrations. He also announced the construction of a war memorial on the Alaboi war, as a tribute to the soldiers of the Alaboi battle who fought the Mughals.

Under the directions from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), packaged food items are set to bear a ‘Health Star Rating’.
The number of stars will indicate how healthy or unhealthy the item is. The rating will be based on the amount of fats, sugar and salt present in the food item. The supporting study was conducted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

The 2nd South Asian Athletic Federation (SAAF) Cross-Country championship and the 56th National Cross Country Athletics Championship will be held in Kohima on March 26.
The tournament will be the first ever international athletics event in Nagaland. More than 600 athletes will participate in the event from all the AFI-affiliated states and UTs of the country and also South Asian countries.

International Air Transport Association (IATA) has partnered with global banking group Standard Chartered to launch a payment platform for airline industry in India.
In addition to existing payment options such as credit cards, IATA Pay will be a new payment option that enables the participating airlines to offer instant payment options such as UPI Scan and Pay and UPI Collect.

The Delhi government has announced the setting up of India’s first e-waste eco-park. The park will be built on 20 acres of land.
At present, Delhi produces 2 lakh tonnes of e-waste every year. At the e-waste eco-park, recycling and re-manufacturing work will be done in a safe and scientific manner.

India and Nepal agreed to form a joint task force on a proposal to construct a hydropower project from investments of the two neighbouring countries.2
The task force will have maximum three members from both the countries. It was agreed on the Meeting of Nepal-India Energy Secretary-Level Joint Steering Committee in Kathmandu. Both countries also agreed to increase the capacity of energy, imported and exported through the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line.

The Chernobyl disaster occurred on 26 April 1986 at a reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the northern part of the Ukrainian SSR. It is said to be the world’s worst nuclear disasters.
Recently, the Russian troops captured the Chernobyl nuclear plant in northern Ukraine and held several staff members of the Chernobyl facilities hostage.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBAGR) has launched a study of ‘Kombai’ dogs.
The study of the breed has been launched under a project to document the indigenous dog breeds. ICAR has already registered the ‘Rajapalayam and Chippiparai’ dogs of Tamil Nadu and the ‘Mudhol Hound’ of Karnataka.

1000 Suborno Jayanti Scholarships for students and officials of Bangladesh were announced during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bangladesh in 2021.
It aims to attract brightest talents and provide opportunity to promote synergies between India and Bangladesh under India’s New Education Policy. The High Commission of India in Dhaka formally launched the Suborno Jayanti Scholarship website.
