The main objective of celebrating ‘World Day of Social Justice’ is to raise a voice against social injustice and to bring various communities together to eliminate poverty, discrimination, illiteracy, to make a socially integrated society
The theme for World Justice Day 2022 is ‘Achieving Social Justice through Formal Employment’.

Notes:
Vedanta Ltd has announced that it has made an Oil discovery named ‘Durga’ in a block in Rajasthan’s Barmer district.
The company has notified the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas about the oil discovery. The block was awarded to Vedanta under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP).

Notes:
The ‘Eastern Bridge-VI’, which is a defence exercise between the Air Forces of India and Oman is conducted from 21 to 25 February 2022 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
This is the 6^th edition of the bilateral exercise which is aimed to bolster operational efficiency of both the air warriors and improve interoperability between the two Air Forces.

Sanjeev Sanyal has been recently appointed as a full-time member of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM).
This was announced by the Chairman of the body Bibek Debroy. In 2017, he was appointed Principal Economic Adviser to the Indian government. He also serves as the co-chair of the Framework Working Group of the G20.

Notes:
Lachit Borphukan was a Military Commander and Borphukan in the Ahom kingdom, located in present-day Assam. He was known for his leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat against the Mughals.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced building a Lachit Samadhi, to mark the 400th birth anniversary celebrations. He also announced the construction of a war memorial on the Alaboi war, as a tribute to the soldiers of the Alaboi battle who fought the Mughals.

A team of archaeologists have found a 9,000-year-old shrine at a remote Neolithic site in Jordan’s eastern desert.
The ritual complex was found in a site near large structures known as “Desert kites”. They are mass traps which were used to cage wild gazelles for slaughter. The site is said to be very intact and had a unique preservation state.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) of India is chaired by the Prime Minister. It also includes the Defence Minister, the Home Minister, the External Affairs Minister.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the CCS after Russia launched its attack on Ukraine. He also spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and called for an immediate cessation of violence.

Moody’s Investors Service has revised India’ GDP growth forecast from 7.9% to 8.4% for the financial year 2022-23. Moody’s has estimated India’s growth to be “stronger-than-expected” which is supported by monetary policy and budget.
But the rating has cautioned that high oil prices and supply distortions would act as a drag to growth of India.

Union Ministry of Education recently launched a campaign ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie’ to encourage cultural diversity and promote Multilingualism.
The initiative aims to promote Bhasha Sangam mobile app, developed by Ministry of Education and MyGov India. Using the app, people can learn over 100 sentences of daily use in as many as 22 scheduled Indian languages. It encourages people to upload their selfie with the certificate.

Union Bank of India, in association with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has launched ‘Union MSME RuPay Credit Card’.
This card comes with interest free credit up to 50 days, which is used for meeting business related operational expenses of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The dedicated card for MSMEs is available to eligible borrowers of Union Bank of India. The card also offers EMI facility on their business-related purchases.
