The ‘Eastern Bridge-VI’, which is a defence exercise between the Air Forces of India and Oman is conducted from 21 to 25 February 2022 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
This is the 6^th edition of the bilateral exercise which is aimed to bolster operational efficiency of both the air warriors and improve interoperability between the two Air Forces.

State owned Maharatna company – Coal India Limited has been awarded the ‘India’s Most Trusted Public Sector Company’ award by Industry Chamber “ASSOCHAM”.
The company was established in the year 1975 with Kolkata as headquarters. It is the single largest coal producer in the world, which is operating more than 85 coal mines spread across 8 states.

JPMorgan Chase has opened a lounge in Decentraland, one of the most popular metaverses. It is the biggest bank in the US and has started exploring the opportunities in the virtual world known as the metaverse.
In Decentraland, one of the most popular metaverses, the bank’s Onyx lounge is in Metajuku, a virtual version of Tokyo’s Harajuku shopping district.

The Administrative Council (AC) under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approved the policy on promotion of foreign investment in the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The New Policy aims to facilitate foreign investments higher than Rs 100 crore with a minimum of 51 per cent foreign stakes.

Notes:
A team of Thailand and French astronomers found an asteroid system with three satellites, named (130) Elektra.
The asteroid was first found in 1873 and it measured about 200 km in diameter and weighs approximately 7 x 10^18 kg. It has captured its three orbiting smaller asteroids, known as S/2003 (130) 1, S/2014 (130)1, and S/2014 (130)2.

Notes:
System for Pension Administration (Raksha)- SPARSH is an initiative of the Defence Ministry. It aims for efficiency and transparency in pension administration.
Recently, Defence Ministry has signed an MoU to onboard pension services under SPARSH initiative across over four lakh Common Service Centres. The MoU will provide connectivity to pensioners, especially those who reside in remote areas of the country.

Notes:
The Government of Canada became the first to authorise the use of plant-based COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been developed by Medicago and it is a 2-dose vaccine, which can be administered to adults of ages 18 to 64.
The approval was made after a research study of the vaccine on 24,000 adults wherein the vaccine candidate was found to be 71% effective in preventing COVID 19.

Notes:
The US Chambers of Commerce has recently released the International Intellectual Property Index 2022, in which out of 55 countries, India has been ranked at 43. India’s overall IP score has improved from 38.4 per cent to 38.6 per cent.
The USA has topped the list with a score of 95.48% followed by UK and Germany in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBAGR) has launched a study of ‘Kombai’ dogs.
The study of the breed has been launched under a project to document the indigenous dog breeds. ICAR has already registered the ‘Rajapalayam and Chippiparai’ dogs of Tamil Nadu and the ‘Mudhol Hound’ of Karnataka.

Notes:
Narsinh Mehta was a 15th century poet who was a devotee of Lord Krishna. Recently, researchers of Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University (BKNMU)- Junagadh, discovered a new species of spider and named it Narsinhmehtai in honour of Narsinh Mehta.
The admirers of the poet objected to the nomenclature, arguing it was already a global name and objected the association of his name to a spider.
