Ministry of Culture organised a two-day Global Summit on ‘Reimagining Museums in India’ in the month of February 2022.
The summit was organized under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The online summit will encompass four broad themes: Architecture and Functional Needs, Management, Collections (including Curation and Conservation practices) and Education and Audience Engagement.

The Union government of India described the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) remarks on the ongoing hijab controversy in Karnataka as ‘motivated and misleading’.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said February 15 would be commemorated as “Shahid Diwas” in memory of the 34 freedom fighters who were killed by police in Tarapur town of Bihar 90 years ago.
The Chief Minister said the Tarapur massacre was the biggest carried out by the British police after the one in Jallianwala Bagh in 1919. Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the Tarapur massacre in his Mann ki Baat radio address of January 2021.

The Government of India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has recently notified guidelines on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for plastic packaging, under the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2022. This aims to eliminate single use plastic.
This defines the roles and responsibilities of producers, importers and pollution control units in bringing down plastic waste.

A 2-day G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting was held in Jakarta which was hosted by Indonesia. India was represented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
During the meeting, G20 nations sought for a sustainable international financing scheme, aimed to protect countries against future pandemic and reduce gaps in the health systems in the member countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Asia’s biggest Bio-CNG plant in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.
The Bio-CNG plant has been set up based on the concept of waste-to-wealth innovation in Indore, India’s cleanest city. It has a capacity of 550 MT per day, claimed to be the highest in Asia.

Government of India, the State Governments of Karnataka and Odisha and the World Bank have signed a USD 115 million Programme.
The name of the project is REWARD (Rejuvenating Watersheds for Agricultural Resilience through Innovative Development Programme). It will help national and state institutions adopt improved watershed management practices.

The Madhya Pradesh government changed the name of MP Professional Examination Board into ‘M.P Karmachari Chayan Aayog’.
It was earlier known as Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal or Vyapam. This is for the second time that the state government has renamed the exam conducting body. After the Vyapam scam, the government had changed its name to MP Professional Examination Board.

Notes:
The Upper Bhadra Lift Irrigation Project of Karnataka envisages to irrigate 2,25,515 hectares of land in Chitradurga, Davanagere, Tumakuru districts of the state by lifting water from Tunga river to Bhadra reservoir.
This project is set to get the national project status, by which it would receive 60% of funding from the Government of India.
