Notes:
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has approved to set up India’s first Geo-Park at Lamheta village on the banks of the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh.
A Geo-Park is a unified area which aims to protect the geological heritage in a sustainable way. The site is already in the UNESCO Geo-heritage tentative list. Several dinosaur fossils had been found in the Narmada valley, in the Bhedaghat-Lameta Ghat area of Jabalpur.

Notes:
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) directed the constitution of a ‘Fly Ash Management and Utilisation Mission’ in its order. The Secretary of MoEF&CC will be the nodal agency.
It aims to coordinate and monitor issues relating to the handling and disposal of fly ash and related issues. It is to be jointly headed by the Secretaries of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Ministry of Coal and Power and Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Northern Ireland is marking 50 years of Bloody Sunday, on which British soldiers fired upon a crowd of protesters, killing 14 people.
Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin also tweeted that the country is paying tribute to the families of the victims. The violence took place during a march organized by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association.

Chinese researchers have claimed to develop an artificial intelligence nanny (AI Nanny), which can monitor and take care of embryos as they grow into foetuses in an Artificial womb.
The artificial womb, or “long-term embryo culture device”, is a container where the researchers grow mouse embryos in cubes filled with nutritious fluids. The AI technology helps to detect the smallest signs of change in the embryos and make changes. This may help in solving birth defects.

The Union Defence Ministry had launched the ‘Services e-Health Assistance and Teleconsultation (SeHAT)’ scheme. It aims to provide home delivery of medicines for veterans and serving military personnel.
The scheme was first rolled out in Delhi and the scheme would be extended to more and more stations in the future. It also provides online medical consultation platform to the tri-services personnel and their families.

World Wetlands Day is observed on February 2 every year to raise awareness about their importance and the need to preserve them. On this day, the Convention on Wetlands was adopted in 1971.
World Wetlands Day 2022 is observed as a United Nations International day for the first time. The theme of World Wetlands Day this year is ‘Wetlands Action for People and Nature’.

Ministry Of Statistics And Programme Implementation released the 28^th edition of the publication, ‘Energy statistics India – 2022’.
It is a repository of statistics on energy resources and highlights India’s commitment and progress made in sustainable energy systems. The publication presents the concepts of production, consumption, trade, energy balance etc. The data is collected from Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Chhattisgarh has recently implemented ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ (ONORC) plan, under which the people of the state can lift their food-grains quota from any ration shops across the country.
With the integration of Chhattisgarh, the ONORC plan is now operational in 35 States/UTs covering almost 96.8 per cent of about 77 crore NFSA beneficiaries in the country. This was announced by the Department of Food & Public Distribution.

Telangana launched Mission Bhagiratha in 2015 to make drinking water sources safe and sustainable.
Several districts of the state are hard-rock terrains with minimum rainfall. The fluoride content in groundwater is higher than permissible levels. The scheme addressed these issues by constructing around 50 water treatment plants (WTP) across the state. The state has been tapping water from various reservoirs, projects and river flows, from the basins of Krishna and Godavari.

Notes:
Under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has installed and commissioned ‘Param Pravega’.
It is claimed to be one of the most powerful supercomputers in the country. The system has a supercomputing capacity of 3.3 petaflops. It is designed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
