Manipur got its first-ever good freight train connectivity post independence, as the first freight train arrived at the Rani Gaidinliu station of the north-eastern state.
Earlier, a passenger train from Silchar in Assam reached the Bongaichungpao railway station in Manipur. This is a part of the 111 km long Jiribam-Imphal new line project, which will connect Imphal with Guwahati.

The Union Defence Ministry had launched the ‘Services e-Health Assistance and Teleconsultation (SeHAT)’ scheme. It aims to provide home delivery of medicines for veterans and serving military personnel.
The scheme was first rolled out in Delhi and the scheme would be extended to more and more stations in the future. It also provides online medical consultation platform to the tri-services personnel and their families.

Dutch King Willem-Alexander officially opened the Ijmuiden Sea Lock, which is claimed to be the largest sea lock in the world.
The 500-metre long and 70-metre-wide structure replaces a smaller 100-year-old one at Ijmuiden, a port city connecting the North Sea Canal to the port of Amsterdam. The structure is deep enough that ships will not have to wait for a favourable water level to enter the canal.

A new study has been done at an altitude of 3106 meters at the top of the mountain “Hoher Sonnenblick” in the “Hohe Tauern” National Park in Austria
The study is investigating the amount of plastic trickling down on us from the atmosphere. According to the study. About 30% of the nanoplastic particles measured on the mountain top originate from a radius of 200 kilometers, from cities. Around 10% of the particles measured in the study were blown onto the mountain by wind and weather over 2000 kilometers.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the DMK Chief announced the launch of ‘All India Federation for Social Justice’. This federation will be represented by leaders of the depressed classes from all the states.
The Chief Minister invited as many as 37 leaders across the country to join the federation. Tamil Nadu played a significant role in the legal battle, which ended in the apex court upholding the 27 per cent OBC quota in the all-India pool seats at state medical colleges.

The Scheme of Assistance to NSFs is a Central Sector Scheme and the main source of funding for preparation of national teams for all major national and international competitions.
The Union Government has approved continuation of Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs) with an outlay of Rs. 1575 crore for XV Finance Commission Cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26).

The Assam Forest Department has announced to hold first-of-its kind leopard census in the state. The city of Guwahati is witnessing increasing leopard-human friction, due to rapid infrastructure development.
The Census will map the leopard’s habitat and establish standards to be followed for infrastructure development.

US President Joe Biden signed into law a bill titled, “Ghost Army Congressional Gold Medal Act”, to provide recognition to the ‘Ghost Army’.
It is a tactical deception unit deployed by the US during World War II. There are just nine surviving veterans of the Ghost Army across the US. The Congressional Gold Medal is the Congress’s highest award of national appreciation for distinguished contributions.
