Physicists from the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at Michigan have created a new Magnesium isotope- Magnesium-18. The magnesium-18 isotope is too unstable to be found in nature.
They used the stable isotope of magnesium, magnesium-24 to make a collision and create the new isotope. It has a lifetime of approximately a sextillionth of a second.

The social activist and Nobel laureate Desmond Tutu who helped end apartheid in South Africa, passed away at the age of 90.
The Arch Bishop is regarded as a contemporary figure of the anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela. Deshmond Tutu was awarded the Nobel prize in 1984 for his non-violent approaches in the struggle to abolish the apartheid system.

Chinese scientists have developed the world’s first machine that can charge people with crime using artificial intelligence.
As per the scientists, the AI “prosecutor” can charge people with over 97 per cent accuracy and it works on verbal description. The researchers also announced that it can also identify “dissent” against the state.

Kerala has emerged as the state with the best overall health performance for the fourth consecutive year, in the fourth Health Index of NITI Aayog. Tamil Nadu and Telangana have emerged as the second and third best performers, respectively.
India’s most populous state Uttar Pradesh is at the bottom of the list. The report ranks UP at the top in ‘incremental performance’, from the base year (2018-19) to reference year (2019-20).

The Government of India has approved the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to improve the efficiencies of DISCOMs by providing financial assistance. Two PSUs-REC and PFC have been nominated as nodal agencies for implementing the scheme.
Assam and Meghalaya have been recently announced as frontrunners for Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has released guidelines regarding Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFV) and Flex Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV).
The Automobile Manufacturers are advised to manufacture the vehicles complying with BS-6 Norms within a period of six months.

Industrialist Viral Desai, popularly known as Greenman, has been awarded the prestigious Global Environment and Climate Action Citizen Award in Dubai.
Viral Desai along with the other winners were felicitated with the Bharat Gaurav Samman by Sanskruti Yuva Sansthan. Twenty-eight personalities from 11 countries were felicitated with the prestigious awards.

Edward O Wilson, who was known affectionately as ‘the ant man’ was a Harvard biologist and an entomologist. He died recently at the age of 92.
The biologist is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author and gained widespread attention across the world for his book, “Sociobiology: The New Synthesis” released in 1975.

The Trace Gas Orbiter, also called as ExoMars TGO is a collaborative project between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Russian Roscosmos agency.
Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) arrived at Mars in 2016 and began its full mission in 2018. Recently, a new image taken by the spacecraft shows a small crater in the Vastitas Borealis region. The crater is partially filled with water ice.

World Sangeet Tansen festival has started from Madhya Pradesh. The festival will be organised till December 30 in Gwalior.
This is the 97th edition of the World Sangeet Tansen festival. The stage has been constructed on the theme of Siddhanath temple situated in Omkareshwar. National Kalidas Awards will be presented in the inauguration ceremony.
