The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has been awarded with the Raksha Mantri’s award for Excellence 2021, for the improvements to the Cantonment General Hospital’ made by the board. This is the third consecutive time the board is being conferred with the award.
Every year, the Raksha Mantri’s award for Excellence is given for innovation and digital achievements in the fields of health, education and sanitation along with public service and land management

Ministry of Women and Child Development has organised a National Conference on Tuberculosis at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu was the Chief Guest, along with Minister of Women & Child Development Smriti Irani and Minister of Health & Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya. Prime Minister of India announced the government’s vision to eliminate TB by 2025, ahead of the SDG timeline of 2030.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has granted emergency approval to the India-manufactured coronavirus vaccine Covovax.
The vaccine is produced by Serum Institute of India under licence from the U.S.-based Novavax. WHO listed the Covovax as the ninth COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use. The vaccine will be distributed as part of global vaccine-sharing system Covax.

Notes:
The Tamil Nadu government has declared Tamil Thai Vaazhthu as the State Song, by issuing a Government Order (GO).It is usually sung , at the beginning of functions in all educational institutions and public events.
The song is taken from ‘Manonmaneeyam’, the famous Tamil drama written by Sundaranar. The order directs everyone who is present during the rendition of the song, barring differently abled persons, should remain standing.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a loan agreement with Assam Skill Development Mission for establishing Assam Skill University.
It will be set up under the external-aided project funded by the Asian Development Bank. The estimated cost of the project was USD 140 million, including the state’s share of 20 per cent. This will be first government skill university of Eastern India.

The Defence Research Development Establishment (DRDE) is to set up an advanced biological defence lab to study viruses dangerous to humans, at Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior.
The proposed Advanced Biological Defence Research Centre (ABDRC) will focus on dangerous viruses, their effect on humans and it will come up with safeguards and develop equipment to fight them.

SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft has been launched for making its 24th commercial cargo supply for NASA to the International Space Station on 21st December 2021. The launch took place from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The space craft would deliver new science investigations, supplies, and equipment for the international crew weighing 6,500 pounds.

Indian Army celebrated the 38th Corps Day of Judge Advocate General’s Department on 21 December 2021. The Judge Advocate General is the legal advisor to the Chief of Army Staff in matters of military, martial and international law.
The Army Act Bill was laid in Parliament on 21 December 1949, and hence 21 December is celebrated as the Corps Day of Judge Advocate General’s Department. It also serves as the legal branch of the Indian Army, dealing with military-related disciplinary cases and litigation.

Notes:
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the world’s first injectable medication,  to reduce the risk of acquiring HIV.
The injectable drug is called Apretude and it provides an alternative to daily pills for HIV prevention, such as Truvada and Descovy. The pills are 99% effective at preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, as per CDC.

Notes:
Vectiraptor greeni’s fossilized remains were collected from the Isle of Wight, United Kingdom. The newly-identified dinosaur species roamed during the Early Cretaceous era, between 130 and 125 million years ago.
The creature measured about 2.5-3 metres long. It was a member of Dromaeosauridae, a large family of feathered predatory dinosaurs.
