On 1 August 2021, Lt Gen Tarun Kumar Chawla has been appointment as the Director General of Artillery. He takes over the appointment from Lt Gen K Ravi Prasad, PVSM, VSM who completed thirty nine years of distinguished service in the army.
Lt Gen Tarun Kumar Chawla, AVSM is an alumnus of St. Thomas High School and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned into a Field Regiment of Artillery in June 1984. He has also served as a Military observer at the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNOMIL).

Anshuman Rath, the Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation (South-east zone) said that Bhubaneshwar has become the first city to achieve 100% Covid-19 Vaccination. Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched a massive vaccination drive against Covid-19. The officials said that they had set a target to complete vaccination in a specific timeline. They made different categories of people who are above 18 years like front-like workers, health workers, 18-44 age group, people above 45 years of age. They achieved this target by July 31.

Lyu Xiaojun is the oldest man to win an Olympic gold medal at the age of 37. He won Gold medal at Tokyo Olympics recently. He participated in 81 kilogram category. He belongs to China. Till 2018, he participated in 77 Kg category and was two time Olympic champion and five time world champion in this category. After 2018, he started participating in 81 Kg category as the International Weightlifting Federation recognized this category after 2018.

Shri Bhupendra Singh, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister launched “Ek Mask-Anek Zindagi” public awareness campaign on August 1, 2021. The campaign will end on August 15, 2021.
The main idea behind the initiation of this campaign is to spread awareness about wearing masks as an preventive step towards controlling the spread of Covid-19. Mask Banks will be established under this scheme where people can donate new masks for poor and needy people. Citizens can donate mask or funds with the help of NGOs also.

Marcell Jacobs won a gold medal in a 100m race at the Tokyo Olympics on August 1, 2021. He completed the race in 9.80 seconds and became the first Italian man to win an Olympic medal in a 100m race. He also set a European record in 100m race by finishing the race in 9.80 seconds. He is an Italian sprinter and long jumper. He won the 60metres title during the 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships.

The Italian luxury brand ‘Bvlgari’ has appointed Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the global brand ambassador.
Bvlgari is known for its gemstone jewellery, watches, fragrances, accessories and leather goods. Priyanka Chopra Jonas will support the Roman high jewellery house and promote brand around the world. The main focus will be on themes of women empowerment, diversity and inclusion.
Bulgari / Bvlgari was founded in 1884 by Sotirios Voulgaris.  Its headquarter is located in Rome, Italy. The current CEO of this brand is Jean-Christophe Babin.

Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has launched ‘Golden Residency Services’ to facilitate issuance of golden visa to doctors residing in UAE.  They will get a 10-year residency visa. The decision was taken to commend doctors for their contribution to the society during the Corona pandemic. The facilities will be provided according to the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai.

“Har Hith Store” scheme has been launched recently by Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana. The scheme has been launched to encourage students towards self-employment. Under this scheme, a chain of grocery shops will be opened in rural and urban areas to sell the best quality daily-needs products at reasonable prices.
For the implementation of the scheme, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation Limited (HAICL) signed Trade of Terms (TOT) with 51 corporate companies which will provide quality products to these stores. They will also provide Information Technology Support System.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the first Brand Ambassador of Homelane. He is now the first celebrity to endorse an end-to-end home interiors brand.
Homelane is an Interior design & decor startup. It was founded by Srikanth Iyer and Tanuj Chaudhary. It was established in 2014. It is known for providing personalized and professional end-to-end interior services on time. Homelane is currently providing services in 16 Indian cities.

“Health and Wellness Savings Account” has been launched by Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SFB) to provide support during medical emergencies. A resident individual with an age limit 18 years to 65 years of age can open the joint or single account. The account will provide a health insurance of Rs.25 lakhs, annual healthcare package etc.
For getting the medical benefits, the individual will have to maintain an average monthly balance of Rs. 3 lakh and he/she should be eligible as per the health declaration form.
