All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct study on ‘Ashwagandha’ for promoting recovery from Covid-19. Clinical trials will be conducted on 2000 participants in three U.K. Cities : Birmingham, Leicester and London.

It was founded in 1899 by Patrick Manson.

Yulimar Rojas won a gold medal at Tokyo Olympic Games on August 1, 2021 and created a world record in the women’s triple jump. She jumped 15.67 metres and broke the record of Inessa Kravets of Ukraine who has the record of 15.50 metres jump. At Tokyo Olympics, the Silver medal was won by Patricia Mamona (15.01 m) of Portugal and Bronze medal was won by Ana Peleteiro (14.87 m) of Spain.

Lyu Xiaojun is the oldest man to win an Olympic gold medal at the age of 37. He won Gold medal at Tokyo Olympics recently. He participated in 81 kilogram category. He belongs to China. Till 2018, he participated in 77 Kg category and was two time Olympic champion and five time world champion in this category. After 2018, he started participating in 81 Kg category as the International Weightlifting Federation recognized this category after 2018.

Emma Mckeon became the first female swimmer to win seven medals in a single Olympic event. She won seven medals at the Tokyo Olympics. She belongs to Australia. She had broken the Olympic record twice in the Tokyo Olympic. She completed the 50m freestyle event in 24.02 seconds and set a world record and then again  broken this record by completing the 50m freestyle in 24 seconds.
She now matched the record for the most decorated female athlete at a single Games/event along with the Russian gymnast Maria Gorokhovskaya who won seven medals in 1952 Olympics held in Helsinki.
Emma Mckeon joins Michael Phelps, Matt Biondi and Otto, as the only swimmers to win five or more golds at one Games/event.

Hungarian Grand Prix, 2021 was held at the Hungaroring in Mogyorod, Hungary on August 1, 2021. Esteban Ocon won his maiden F1 race. Hungarian Grand Prix was the eleventh round of the 2021 Formula One World Championship. Esteban Ocon has now taken the Formula One Championship lead from Max Verstappen.
Esteban Ocon belongs to France and he competes for Alpine-Renault.
Formula One World Championship 2021 is a motor racing championship for Formula One cars. It is recognised by the International Automobile Federation which is the governing body of International motorsport. According to FIA, Formula One World Championship  is the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The championship is being conducted over 23 Grands Prix  across the world.
Lewis Hamilton is the defending World driver and Mercedes is the defending World constructor. They won the titles in 2020.

PhonePe became the first digital investment platform to launch UPI based AutoPay functionality for its Mutual Fund (MF) Systematic Investment Plans ( SIP) and offerings in India. The UPI AutoPay function will be available for existing as well as new investors on PhonePe app.
SIP is an investment route offered by Mutual Funds. In SIP, one can invest a fixed amount in a Mutual fund scheme according to their will at regular intervals.
SIPs are open-ended. Customers can initiate, pause, restart and terminate SIP at any time.
PhonePe  was founded in 2015 and was later acquired by Flipkart in 2016. Its headquarter is in Mumbai and Sameer Nigam is the current CEO of PhonePe.

Nelliyode Vasudevan Namboothiri was a Kathakali artist. He belonged to Kerala. He was known for his vibrant portrayal of the evil chuvanna thaadi roles of the classical Kathakali dance-drama from Kerala. He was a scholar in Sanskrit and Hindu Puranas and was a recipient of several awards including Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi award, Kerala State Kathakali Prize etc.
Kathakali is a Hindu performance art in the Malayalam-speaking southwestern region of Kerala and one of the major classical dance form of India.

Notes:
Sydney McLaughlin created a world record after winning the women’s 400-metre hurdles in 51.46 seconds at Tokyo Olympics 2020 recently. Her previous record was of 51.90 seconds. She became the first woman to finish the race before 52 seconds in an event, when she set the record of 51.90 seconds at the USA Olympic trials of 2020. She belongs to the United States of America.
At the Tokyo Olympics 2020 event of the women’s 400-metre hurdles , Dalilah Muhammad won the Silver medal and Femke Bol won the Bronze medal.

Notes:
The Indian Meteorological Department has undertaken installation of Agro-Automatic Weather Stations to provide exact weather forecast to the people, especially the farmers. The installation was done at District Agromet Units located in the Krishi Vigyan Kendras under the Indian Council of Agriculture Research network.

The Central Board for Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) have launched the Indian Customs Compliance Information Portal (CIP) which will provide free access to information about all Customs procedures and regulatory compliance for about 12,000 Customs Tariff Items.
