Notes:
India ranks Fourth among the top 20 countries which is contributing to biological databases.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh released the “Biotech-PRIDE Guidelines. The term PRIDE means “Promotion of Research and Innovation through Data Exchange”.
It has been developed by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology. It was released on July 30, 2021. These guidelines will enable exchange of information to promote research and innovation in different research groups across the country. The Indian Biological Data Center (IBDC) will initially implement these guidelines.
Other existing datasets/data centers will connect to this IBDC called BioGrid. BioGrid will become a national respiratory of knowledge, information and biological data and will be responsible for allowing their exchange, establishing security measures, standards and quality of data sets and establishing detailed modes of access to data.

Notes:
Government of India has appointed Deepak Das as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA) of India. CGA comes under the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. Deepak Das is the 25th CGA. He is a 1986-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer. He earlier served as the Principal Chief Controller of Accounts in the Central Board of Direct Taxes. He has also been the Director of the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF), the training academy of the Indian Civil Accounts Service.
He is an alumnus of Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi.

 

Notes:
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) and State-run Convergence Energy Services Ltd. (CESL) collaborated for setting up EV Charging stations in metro cities across India including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru. CESL and HPCL will identify major highway across India where adequate charging infrastructure could be installed and established.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. is a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. Its headquarter is in Mumbai. It has approximately 25% market-share in India among public sector understandings and has a strong marketing infrastructure.
State-run Convergence Energy Services Ltd is a subsidiary of state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited. It is a joint venture of public sector companies under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

Notes:
Udupi district of Karnataka stood first in the successful implementation of Sakala scheme in July, 2021.
Sakala is a legislation formed to provide timely delivery of government services to citizens by the Government departments concerned.
Karnataka incorporate Sakala scheme under Right to Public Services legislation.
Karnataka Sakala Services Act was passed in 2011 to provide guarantee of services to citizens in Karnataka with a stipulated time limiting to citizen related services. It was renamed as Sakala Act in 2012.
The technical services related to the Sakala scheme is developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) with a motive to provide solutions and services to monitor the services.

Neeraj Chopra qualifies for the Javelin throw final on August 4, 2021. He topped the Group A qualification with a big throw of 86.65m . Subedar Neeraj Chopra, VSM is an Indian track and field athlete and a Junior Commission Officer in Indian Army. He is the first Indian to ever win a World title in  Track and Field at U-20. He belongs to Panipat (Haryana).

Notes:
The first orchid conservation centre of North India has been inaugurated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The main purpose of the conservation centre is to conserve orchid species and create ventures for tourism and livelihood for local people.
Orchid is a flowering plant and its scientific name is Orchidaceae.
All orchid species are protected under Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). CITES was enforced on 1 July, 1975.
Ivonne Higuero is the current Secretary-General of CITES. It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

“Health and Wellness Savings Account” has been launched by Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SFB) to provide support during medical emergencies. A resident individual with an age limit 18 years to 65 years of age can open the joint or single account. The account will provide a health insurance of Rs.25 lakhs, annual healthcare package etc.
For getting the medical benefits, the individual will have to maintain an average monthly balance of Rs. 3 lakh and he/she should be eligible as per the health declaration form.
Suryoday Small Finance Bank was established in 2017. It is headquartered in Mumbai. Baskarbabu Ramchandran is the current CEO &  MD of the bank.

Khalid Mansoor has been appointed as the chief of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority. He replaced Asim Saleem Bajwa. Khalid Mansoor has more than 30 years of experience in energy and petrochemical sectors. He has a good knowledge about execution, management and operations related to mega-projects.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a collection of infrastructure projects that are under construction in the regions of Pakistan and China.  It was established on 22 May, 2013.

Paras Khadka, the former captain of Nepal Cricket Team has retired from the International Cricket at the age of 34. He is the first batsman of Nepal to score century in ODIs as well as T20s. He was the longest-serving captain of Nepal Cricket team. He represented Nepal in three Under-19 World cups (2004, 2006, 2008) and led his country in 2014 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
International Cricket Council (ICC) is headquartered in Dubai. Greg Barclay is the chairman of ICC and Anil Kumble is the chairman of the ICC’s Cricket Committee.

Notes:
Under the aegis of Ministry of Defence, the Government of India has approved the establishment of the Defence Cyber Agency. To mitigate various cyber threats, all the three armed force Services have established their respective Cyber Emergency Response Teams (CERT). Also, the Government of India is formulating the National cyber security strategy, which is currently in the final stages of approval.
