Notes:
As per the, “Information Technology Rules, 2021” , the social media platforms with more than 50 lakh users in India need to publish compliance report every month by mentioning the details of complaints received and actions taken. Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 came into force on May 26, 2021 and was released by the  Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in 2021.
According to the transparency report released by Google recently in the end of July, Google India removed over 1,50,000 pieces of content from its social media platforms in the month of May and June and it also took removal actions on 11,61,223 pieces of content as a result of automated detection process during May-June.
Information Technology Rules, 2021 were released by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in February, 2021.

CSIR- Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Chandigarh developed a personal reading machine “Divya Nayan” for visually impaired people. In this device, any printed or digital document can be accessed in the form of speech output. The device can analyse a multi column document and provide seamless reading on the basis of principle of contact scanning. User can place the device over the document to be read and manually scan it. The image is converted into text, text is converted to speech and audio with the help of language dependent optical character.
Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) was established by the Government of India in September 1942. It is an autonomous body and has emerged as the largest research and development organisation in India. Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India is its parent organisation. The institute was founded by Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar.

Deepak Tilak, the president of the Lokmanya Tilak Trust recently announced that Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla, chairman of Serum Institute of India (SII) will be honoured with the prestigious “Lokamanya Tilak Award 2021”. He will be awarded for his contribution towards the society by manufacturing Covisheild and hence helping in saving many lives during the coronavirus pandemic.
Lokmanya Tilak National Award was started in 1983. The award is annually given on August 1, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak. Several prominent personalities like Indira Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Atal Biharee Vajpayee, Pranab Mukherjee, N R Narayana Murthy etc. have been honoured with this award.

On August 1, “Muslim Women Rights Day” was observed across the country for the first time. This day was observed to celebrate the enactment of the law against ‘Triple Talaq’ for completing its two years.  According to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of Minority Affairs, the Government enacted the law against Triple Talaq on 1st August, 2019 and this law made the social malpractice of Triple Talaq as a criminal offense. The law was enacted with an aim of liberating Muslim women from the shackles of social evil which they faced in the form of divorce terms.

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is organised annually by World Health Organisation (WHO), World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) , United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The Breastfeeding week is marked every year from August 1 to August 8 i.e. the first week of August. The main motive of World Breastfeeding Week is to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding for mothers and infants. The theme of 2021 is “Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility”.
The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) was founded on 14 February 1999 by Anwar Fazal. Its headquarter is located in Penang (Malaysia).

Isuru Udana, Sri Lankan Cricketer announced his retirement from International cricket at the age of 33. He will continue playing domestic cricket and will be available for franchise tournaments. He is a left hand bowler. He made his debut in the 2009 T20 World Cup which was held in 2009. He has played 21 One Day Internationals, 35 Twenty 20 Internationals.
International Cricket Council was founded on 15 June 1909. ICC is headquartered in Dubai. Greg Barclay is the current chairman of ICC.

Forbes released Fortune 500 global list of companies on August 2, 2021. According to the list,
Walmart is ranked first in terms of total revenues for their respective fiscal years ended on or before March 31, 2021. Walmart had a revenue of USD 524 billion.
Walmart Inc. is an American multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores and grocery stores. The company is based in United States of America. It is headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas. It was founded on 2 July, 1962 by Sam Walton and Walton family is its owner. Doug Mcmillion is the current CEO of this company.
Forbes is an American business magazine. It is owned by Integrated whale media investments and Forbes family. It features articles on finance, industry, investments and marketing topics. It is based in New Jersey, USA.

Forbes released Fortune 500 global list of companies on August 2, 2021.
As per the list, Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) is the highest ranked Indian company in a fiscal year ended on or before March 31, 2021. Globally, It is on 155th position. Apart from RIL, there are other Indian companies also such as Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Rajesh Exports, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
Reliance Industries Limited is an Indian multinational conglomerate company which includes different sectors such as energy, petrochemicals, natural gas, retail, telecommunications, mass media, textiles etc. It was founded on 8 May, 1973 by Dhirubhai Ambani. Mukesh Ambani is the current CEO of Reliance Industries Limited.

In the month of July, 2021, India has recorded the highest ever monthly merchandise export. The merchandise exports rose to 35.17 billion dollars. According to the provisional data of the commerce industry, there was a healthy growth in the shipment of petroleum, engineering goods and gems and jewellery.
Merchandise Exports From India Scheme (MEIS) is notified by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and implemented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

‘Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana’  has been recently launched by Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Under this scheme, Rs. 3000 will be directly transferred into accounts of children who lost  their parents or the earning member of their family during the Covid-19 pandemic. Free education, ration and health facilities will be provided to them till the age of 21.
State Minister Rekha Arya was also present when this scheme/programme was launched.
