PM Modi’s Five-Nation Tour Secures Investment Commitments

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy from 15 May to 20 May 2026. The tour produced investment commitments for India worth nearly US$40 billion across energy, technology, defence, shipping and manufacturing sectors.

Five-Nation Diplomatic Tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to five countries in Europe and West Asia during the six-day tour. The visit included bilateral meetings, summit-level engagements and discussions with multinational companies.

Investment Commitments and Corporate Engagements

More than 50 multinational companies met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the tour. These companies had a combined market valuation estimated between US2.7 trillion and US3 trillion. The investment pipeline covered strategic petroleum reserves, liquefied petroleum gas supply, defence, shipping, semiconductors and green hydrogen.

India-United Arab Emirates Relations

The United Arab Emirates pledged fresh investments of about US$5 billion in India. The investment areas included strategic petroleum reserves, long-term LPG supply, defence and shipping. India and the United Arab Emirates have maintained wide-ranging cooperation in energy, trade and infrastructure.

India-Netherlands and India-Sweden Ties

India and the Netherlands elevated their ties to a strategic partnership and signed 17 agreements. The agreements covered trade, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, green hydrogen, maritime security, defence and critical minerals. India and Sweden also upgraded their relations to a strategic partnership, with discussions on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, green transition and resilient supply chains.

In Norway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the third India-Nordic Summit and firmed up a Green Strategic Partnership focused on clean energy, climate resilience and the blue economy.
