PM Modi Inaugurates International Conference on ‘The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” on 19 September 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) organised the conference on 19 and 20 September 2026.

Vigyan Bhawan is a conference venue in New Delhi used for national-level official events and international meetings. The National Green Tribunal is a statutory body established under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010, for the effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources.

The conference includes eminent Judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries. It also brings together judges from the Supreme Court of India and High Courts, District Court Judges, Secretaries of various Ministries, senior government officials, and representatives of State Judicial Academies, State Legal Services Authorities, and environmental authorities.

Technical Sessions and Agenda

The conference has four technical sessions on environmental and climate-related issues. The discussions cover policy-making and implementation gaps in environmental governance, which is a field that includes laws, institutions, and administrative mechanisms for pollution control, conservation, and climate action.
