Organoids

Organoids is a mini version of organs that are grown from stem cells under laboratory conditions (in vitro). These are simplified versions of their real life counterpart and are used for studying physiology and various diseases associated with their tissues. In 2009, the scientists succeeded in creating an organoid of an intestine and since then, the technique has improved. Recently, scientists created a tear gland organoid which could produce tears when subjected to adrenalin.
