NCERT Launches Digital, Inclusive Learning Initiatives

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) marked its 65th Foundation Day in 2025 by unveiling several key initiatives. These efforts align closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The focus is on enhancing digital learning, early childhood education, and inclusive education across India.

Bal Vatika DTH Channel

NCERT launched Bal Vatika, a dedicated DTH TV channel (PM eVidya Channel No. 35). It targets children aged 3 to 6 years. The channel offers engaging audio-visual content to improve foundational literacy and numeracy. It supports teachers, Anganwadi workers, and parents in delivering early childhood education. This initiative extends digital education to pre-primary learners, fulfilling NEP 2020 goals.

DIKSHA 2.0

The upgraded DIKSHA 2.0 platform introduces artificial intelligence features. It provides structured lessons, adaptive assessments, and personalised performance feedback. Key tools include Read Aloud, Closed Captioning, and multilingual text translation in 12 Indian languages. DIKSHA 2.0 enhances accessibility for diverse learners and supports educators with advanced digital resources.

Inclusive Education Tools and Resources

PRASHAST 2.0, an improved disability screening tool, helps early identification of children with disabilities. It integrates with UDISE+, APAAR, and the Swavlamban Card system. This facilitates timely support for divyang learners. Additionally, Kitab Ek Padhe Anek follows Universal Design of Learning principles. It offers accessible textbooks for Classes 1 and 2, catering to diverse learning needs.

Additional Educational Innovations

NCERT introduced Virtual Reality (VR) labs in demonstration schools to promote immersive learning. The PM eVidya mobile app was launched as a centralised access point for multi-format digital content. New primers were published in Hindi, Sanskrit, Ho-Hindi, and Koya languages, supporting linguistic diversity. A book titled *Utkal Jananinkara Sujogya Santana* celebrated 100 notable personalities from Odisha. The PSSCIVE released a vocational education handbook to strengthen skill development under NEP 2020.

Alignment with National Education Policy 2020

These initiatives reflect NCERT’s commitment to the vision of NEP 2020. They emphasise digital transformation, inclusivity, and curriculum reform. NCERT continues to lead in developing the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE 2023) and the Foundational Stage Framework (NCF-FS 2022). The Foundation Day celebrations reinforced NCERT’s role as a key driver of educational reform in India.
