• Sri Lanka: Sinhala-Buddhist majoritarian opinion limits Colombo’s willingness to devolve power to Tamil areas, affecting reconciliation and trust. Domestic electoral promises and sovereignty concerns also shape shifts in policy toward India.
• Economy: Sri Lanka’s debt and recovery needs drive it to seek Indian aid, credit and investment, even while balancing China to satisfy development demands.
