Kumar Shanker Appointed Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited

Kumar Shanker was appointed Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) with effect from 5 June 2026. He succeeded Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, who returned to GAIL (India) Limited after completing a three-year tenure at IGL. Shanker previously served as Managing Director of Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd in Pune and has more than three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector.

Indraprastha Gas Limited is India’s largest city gas distributor. It operates across 33 districts in 12 geographical areas, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. IGL supplies compressed natural gas and piped natural gas through its city gas distribution network.

His professional experience includes gas processing plant operations, petrochemical project management, corporate planning, marketing and regulatory functions.
