India to Host Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi
India will host the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on 26 May 2026. The meeting will be held at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and will bring together the foreign ministers of Australia, Japan and the United States.
Quad and its members
The Quad is a diplomatic grouping of four countries: India, Australia, Japan and the United States. The grouping is associated with cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and with the concept of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
Agenda of the meeting
The ministers are expected to review existing Quad initiatives and discuss regional and global developments of mutual concern. The listed areas of cooperation include maritime security, resilient supply chains, infrastructure development, critical and emerging technologies, climate action, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
India’s bilateral engagements
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are scheduled to hold separate bilateral meetings with S. Jaishankar in New Delhi. The visiting ministers are also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their stay.
Previous Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
The previous Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held in Washington, D.C., on 1 July 2025. The New Delhi meeting is the first Quad Foreign Ministers’ gathering on Indian soil since 2023.
