Gwalior to Get Asia’s First Telecom Manufacturing Zone

Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh is set to host Asia’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) with an estimated investment of ₹5,500 crore. The project has received investment proposals from 24 companies and is projected to create more than 18,000 direct jobs.

Telecom Manufacturing Zone

A Telecom Manufacturing Zone is an industrial cluster for telecom equipment production, testing, and allied manufacturing activities. The proposed Gwalior TMZ is linked with a Common Testing Lab package of about ₹500 crore and an incentive package developed by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Project Location and Land Use

The identified site for the first phase covers about 170 acres of land. More than 90 acres are in the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Counter Magnet City (SADA), and over 70 acres are in the IT Park area. Additional land is being identified because investor interest has exceeded the currently available land.

Agreements, Roadshows and Connectivity

The Department of Telecommunications and the Government of Madhya Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2026 for the TMZ. Investor roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai in August 2026 secured combined investment commitments of ₹5,500 crore. The site has access to the under-development 120-km Agra-Gwalior High-Speed Corridor, major railway routes, and a redeveloped airport.
