As per a report titled ‘COVID-19 and Tourism’ released by the UNCTAD jointly with the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the crash in international tourism due to COVID 19 pandemic can lead to a loss of about $4 trillion to the global GDP in 2020 and 2021.
The estimated loss is said to be caused due to direct impact and indirect ripple effect on other sectors closely linked to the tourism industry.

Israel’s Defence major Rafael Advanced Defense Systems launched Sea Breaker, a 5th generation long range, autonomous, precision-guided missile system.
It is a naval and artillery unit force-multiplier, which can hit high-value maritime and land targets. It has ranges of up to 300 km, can be fired both from land and surface ships. The firm would offer the system to India in future.

Israel-based Polaris Solutions in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Defense recently unveiled “The Kit 300”. It consists of a sheet made from thermal visual concealment material that makes soldiers nearly undetectable.

Microsoft has collaborated with Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) to build a centre of excellence enabled with AI and emerging technologies. AJNIFM was set up in 1993 as a registered society under Ministry of Finance.
The main aim of this collaboration is to transform the public finance management, Expenditure management in India and prevent risks like money laundering, use of machine learning models for decision making etc..

A new centre of National Horticulture Board (NHB) has been inaugurated in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh by Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare.
National Horticulture Board (NHB) was set up by Government of India in April 1984 on the basis of recommendations of the “Group on Perishable Agricultural Commodities”, headed by Dr M. S. Swaminathan. NHB is mandated for integrated development of Hi-tech commercial and post-harvest management/cold chain infrastructure in the country.

India’s first Agriculture Export Facilitation Centre has been established in Pune. It will work as a one-stop centre for the exporters in agricultural sector.
The centre was established by the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) in association with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

India joined the global tax deal under the G20-OECD Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS).
It seeks to reform international tax rules and ensure that multinational companies pay their fair share wherever they operate. However, when the global tax regime is implemented, India will have to roll back the equalisation levy that it imposes on MNCs such as Google, Amazon and Facebook.
