Afghanistan became the First Country to recognize Indian Pharmacopoeia

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission was formed in 1956 with headquarters in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, to promote public and animal health in India.
The Commission acts as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Indian Pharmacopoeia is a book that has been established to set standards for all drugs that are consumed, manufactured and sold in the county. The standards set by the Indian Pharmacopoeia is as per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Drugs and Cosmetics Rules of 1945.
Afghanistan’s National Department of Regulation of Medicines and Health Products under their Ministry of Public Health has formally recognised the Indian Pharmacopoeia. Afghanistan became the first country to recognise the Indian Pharmacopoeia.
As an important perspective of healthcare, safety, quality and efficacy of medicines are important and for ensuring that, the Indian Pharmacopoeia as under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act second schedule is the official book for standards of drugs manufactured for sale and imported to the country for stock, sale or distribution.
