Vyas Samman

Institution and Sponsorship
The K.K. Birla Foundation established the Vyas Samman alongside other literary prizes to promote Indian literature. The award is presented annually to an Indian citizen for a literary work written in Hindi and published during the preceding ten years.
Cash Prize and Accolades
The award carries a cash prize of four lakh rupees along with a plaque and a citation. The selection process involves a search-cum-selection committee headed by an eminent scholar or literary personality appointed by the foundation.

Language and Literary Formats
Eligible works must be authored exclusively in Hindi and can encompass various literary genres including poetry, prose, drama, fiction, and literary criticism. Translated works are generally excluded from consideration unless specified under specific operational rules of the foundation.
Evaluation Period
The evaluation cycle reviews books published during a designated ten-year window preceding the year of the award. The recipient must be a living author who has contributed enduring value to modern Hindi literature through the nominated publication.
